Roles and Responsibilities

Packagings core deliverable is to design and develop innovative and cost effective packaging materials that will enhance product preference & performance.

  • The position holder is an active member of the Cross functional team. He/she is briefed about the consumer and marketing requirements with respect to packaging of the new products and extension of existing products.
  • The incumbent is required to coordinate with creative agencies and suppliers in the field of packaging for developing new designs for rigid and flexible packaging materials. Developed designs are reviewed and approved by the position holder.
  • The job holder must also have sufficient knowledge of packing machines and possess the capability to assess machinery needs and should be able to identify options and evaluate a most suitable one.
  • The incumbent will co-ordinate with machine suppliers to get either new or old machines which can deliver the final product (rigid or flexible packaging), if the machines are not available at the manufacturing units.
  • The job holder will also co-ordinate with manufacturing units to undertake trial run for a given volume and ensure that all necessary tests gets performed. The incumbent makes the commercial production plans and implements the same keeping in mind the cost, time & quality of packaging.
  • The incumbent should also be conversant with the latest packaging technology trends worldwide and should be able to bring those concepts and technology to the drawing table.
  • He/she should possess good communication skills and should be able to effectively communicate with creative agencies/design houses, Packaging institutes like Indian Institute of Packaging, packaging material vendors and other departments like Sourcing, Operations and Marketing equally well.
