Roles and Responsibilities

Job TitleJob Holder:Assistant Unit Manager

Reporting To:Cluster manager & State Business Manager


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Creating a high quality portfolio:AUM is responsible for both creating and maintaining a high quality portfolio. He/she will thus have a strong voice in customer selection, by attending CPVs and by conducting GRTs. For the first three months, the UM is responsible for attending 100% of CPVs conducted.
  • Sanctioning loans: Once all credit checks are complete, the UM is responsible for sanctioning the loan on the system.
  • Monitoring cash management: AUM is responsible for conducting cash reconciliation at the end of every day.
  • Ensuring on-time collections: AUM is to attend 3 center meetings a day, to ensure on-time collections. In case there is a lapse in payment, AUM is jointly responsible for following up with default customers (along with the GCO).
  • Managing and monitoring branch:UM will lead a branch huddle every evening, to understand daily operations and troubleshoot problems. AUM will also attend to branch administrative issues as and when they arise.
  • Maintaining productivity/profitability: AUM will monitor profitability and performance of the branch using various productivity, efficiency and financial parameters.
  • Leading and training GCOs: AUM will support individual GCOs through their career development. If required, he/she will also lead training programs.
  • Ensuring low risk: Identify and analyze risks (economic, social, political, etc) related to broader loan portfolio; ensure portfolio diversification and quality across activities and Area
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction: Ensure high level of customer satisfaction through high service quality. Coach Relationship and Branch Managers in analyzing reasons behind high drop-out rates and identifying techniques to reduce drop-out problems.

JOB SPECIFICATION:

Educational Qualifications: Graduate
PROfessional experience:Minimum 2 years experience in financial services in a supervisory role, preferably microfinance

•• Good analytic skills, judgment and ability to make independent decisions informed by both quantitative and qualitative data (including informal feedback from stakeholders and non-business context: socio-political-religious environmental factors)

•• Good leadership and people management skills, with ability to manage people both directly and indirectly at multiple levels and remotely

Technical competencies
•• Basic computer skills (typing, email)
•• Basic reading and writing skills in English required.
