YourRole:

The responsibility of the Data Platform Manager is to manage the build, support and continuous improvement of ekaterra company data and reporting solutions. Primarily this purpose of this role is to act as a single orchestrator for all engineering activity and overall custodian of the ekaterra’s data platforms.

The role encompasses a mix of hands-on technical leadership, agile (scrum) management, strategy and ops model development and stakeholder management.

YourKey Tasks:

  • Together with architects and with input from key business stakeholders, establish the enterprise data platform strategy, roadmap and associated architecture.

  • Oversee the development and operation of the tea businesses data platforms, including but not limited to the Business Intelligence (BI) platform and data lakes.

  • Provide the ownership and co-ordination for development & release activities, maintaining SDLC practices, leveraging a DevOps operating model, and implementing rigorous governance/data quality processes.

  • Lead a data engineering support and minor enhancements through both day-to-day data management (BAU) activities and change projects; defining and orchestrating tasks and deliverables.

  • Operate as a senior custodian of the ekaterra data platform, with performance, security, and data integrity at the forefront of all decisions, ensuring that adequate steps are taken to protect data and the data platform.

  • Work in collaboration with architects and act as a senior contributor on the design, build, and management of the data platform; taking direct ownership of controls and standards to ensure that all new data requirements are met using the most appropriate controls and engineering practices.

  • Establish the necessary governance forums with stakeholders (both business and IT) to define and execute against a platform technology roadmap, business change, and data product build plan. Acting as the key co-ordinator of all third-party vendor development activities. Providing full transparency of progress with regular reporting.

  • Take ownership of the change/minor enhancements and support team and play a leading role in team development while holding team accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work; leveraging organizational resources to improve capacity for project work; and mentoring and developing team members, and lead recruitment activities when required.

  • Keep up to date with data platform market trends and drive a data and cloud first approach with your business stakeholders.

Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience in the field of Azure based data engineering - with proven experience orchestrating and governing data pipelines, integration, data modelling, release mgmt. etc.

  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle models and introducing continuous improvement development activities, managing the balance of new product and CI sprints.

  • Background in data architecture, IT project/programme delivery and data platform support oversight.

  • Experience in cloud hosted data platform and business intelligence platform oversight.

  • Knowledge of software design principles and leading software development practices.

  • Willingness to get things done, take initiative and challenge existing assumptions and conventions.

  • Experience working with a geographically dispersed team.

  • Experience with grooming business-stakeholder requirements into achievable technical goals.
