The team you will be a part of

The Software Engineering team designs, develops or coordinates development/troubleshooting or debugging of moderately complex software programs for enhancements and new products. Performs high-level design/modeling to convert stakeholder needs into software solutions. Develops software and tools in support of design, infrastructure and technology platforms. Determines hardware compatibility and/or influences hardware design. Develops the architectural guidelines, specifications, and technical standards and communicates to stakeholders.

This role in summary

Role : Director, Software Engineering

Purpose :The Director of Software Engineering position is a key transformational role within Whirlpool’s GTEC Global Product Organization to lead GTEC software team and product software solutions to make an impact in delivering rich consumer experience at home. The responsibilities include leading the software engineering team to develop and deliver the next generation of connected appliances. This role will work closely with the global stakeholders across all subsystems.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Ability to work collaboratively with global stakeholders to solve problems and meet business/customer needs

  • Responsible for product delivery (includes edge, mobile and cloud software, and end-to-end test)

  • Responsible for efficient & optimized resource usage with end-to-end ownership drive

  • Responsible for building high performance team

  • Strong technical acumen & SDLC experience

  • Local site lead with responsibility to support India market pre-sales & post-sales engineering and team growth (address attrition issues)

  • Work closely with global product delivery leads and digital software lead

  • Drive cross platform automation pipeline

  • Drive full stack scrum teams locally - Culture Transformation (DevOps culture - includes integration of test as part of scrum team with Automation focus - eventually no separate testers, i.e. entire scrum team is responsible for dev, test & delivery)

  • Experience with IoT is a plus.

  • 15+ years of software engineering experience

  • 3+ years of experience with leading large software teams

Additional information

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS :BE/ME in Computer Science or Computer Engineer or equivalent
