About The Team

AXOS (Account, Onboarding, Verification & Support Engineering) is

the core foundational pillar for Stripe. We are in a lot of ways the

front door for a user to onboard a user, verify the user / business

& manage a user lifecycle within Stripe. As the first impression

users have of Stripe, we play a critical role in building and

maintaining user trust. We care about the end-to-end journey of a new

user signing up, verification of a new and existing user, activating

payments and other features, and keeping businesses compliant as

regulations and financial partners evolve over time. Stripe will succeed

at our mission of increasing the GDP of the internet only if we succeed

in tailoring our onboarding process to be as simple as possible while

adapting to the enormous growth in complexity in the types of businesses

we can support in the global financial marketplace. AXOS sits at the

center of regulatory compliance, fraud and risk, security, and

marketing, and we work thoughtfully to balance these scales in order to

provide the minimal amount of user friction to businesses looking to use

Stripe to access the global internet economy.

What you’ll do

Responsibilities
  • Work with a team of talented engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver services that will form the basis of our onboarding systems, including data layer and business logic.
  • Partner closely with Stripe product teams to support their specific needs while maintaining a high quality and consistent product across each offering
  • Support the engineering team in achieving a high level of technical excellence and stability.
  • Manage processes to help the team do its best work and interface effectively with the rest of Stripe.
  • Recruit, coach and develop engineers.
  • Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Stripe’s engineering management team.

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be

considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are

requirement.

Minimum Requirements
  • You’ve managed teams that have built and maintained highly compliant, secure and scalable backend systems that are the backbone for the highest impacting user experiences. Or if not, you’ve managed a team that has delivered a great product with strong foundations.
  • You enjoy working closely with customers, both internally and externally
  • You work very well cross-functionally, and are able to think rigorously and make hard decisions and tradeoffs.
  • You thrive on a high level of autonomy and responsibility.
  • You encourage a healthy work environment that’s both supportive and challenging.
  • You’re technical enough to ask engineers good questions about architecture and product decisions.
  • You have more than 2 years of engineering management experience & overall 10+ years of experience;

Preferred Qualifications
  • Finance / Banking experience is a plus but not a requirement
