About The Job

As a member of the Real Estate team, you are a critical thinker with versatile knowledge on the front lines of Google’s physical expansion. Google cannot grow without you. You are part of a team with a wide range of responsibilities including lease administration, real estate transaction management, and the design and construction supervision of our next and ever expanding offices. You help manage the spatial requirements for a workforce that is growing at lightning speed to ensure that the job is not only done to Google’s high and industry-setting standards, but also in a way that promises long-term sustainability and care for our world’s resources.

The Real Estate Strategy and Transactions team is responsible for the delivery of all transactions (e.g., build, purchase, or lease), creating a single point of accountability for the delivery of space globally. Leveraging the inputs from the Workplace Experience team, the team devises and develops real estate strategy to meet the needs of the business, and to provide Google with the best economic and business outcomes available. The real estate strategy should consider the risk, resilience, and cost of Google’s real estate on the business and implement the strategy seamlessly across multiple cities and regions.

As a Manager of Real Estate Strategy and Transactions, you will assemble and lead a team of in-house subject matter experts from Legal, Finance, Tax and, if necessary, SMEs from the Real Estate Development and/or Purchase team to deliver each project. You will ensure that transactions are performed according to the agreed real estate financial goals and related agreements.

The Real Estate and Workplace Services (REWS) team creates inspiring spaces and innovative services that bring Google’s culture and values to life. We build and maintain all aspects of what keeps our Googley workspaces operating seamlessly across multiple cities and regions globally. We also manage the industry-leading services that help make Google a great place to work -- from how we design healthy and collaborative workspaces, create energizing food experiences, provide convenient transportation and fitness options, to delivering inclusive environments where Google and our employees can thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, investigate, and manage real estate transactions and opportunities for leases, purchases, developments, expansions and subleases for Google’s regional real estate portfolio.
  • Be an acknowledged leader in real estate. Utilize and communicate your knowledge and insights of the real estate industry in parallel with an understanding of Google’s business.
  • Own and be responsible for the quality of Google’s leases, purchases, and development transactions. Operate as a trusted advisor to the business driving key operational and financial benefits for Google.
  • Be responsible for developing a detailed pipeline of real estate strategy to meet the needs of the business and negotiate directly with landlords, developers, and property owners.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to take a one team approach. Encourage trust-building relationships and proactive working across service lines in support of Google’s strategic real estate goals.
