The role of MBBS Duty Doctor/OPD is crucial in providing primary medical care to patients in a clinical or hospital setting. This role involves diagnosing and treating a wide range of health conditions, as well as providing guidance and support to patients and their families. The duty doctor plays a key role in the smooth operation of the Outpatient Department (OPD) by ensuring efficient patient flow and delivering high-quality medical services.

Key responsibilities

  • Conducting medical assessments, examinations, and consultations in the OPD
  • Diagnosing and treating common illnesses and injuries
  • Prescribing appropriate medications and treatment plans
  • Monitoring and managing patient care and treatment outcomes
  • Providing counseling and health education to patients and their families
  • Collaborating with specialists for referrals and further treatment
  • Ensuring accurate and timely medical record documentation
  • Participating in continuous medical education and training programs
  • Supervising and guiding support staff in the OPD
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment
  • Following established clinical protocols and guidelines
  • Assisting in medical emergency cases when required
  • Contributing to quality improvement initiatives in the OPD
  • Communicating effectively with patients, families, and colleagues

Required Qualifications

  • MBBS degree from a recognized medical institution
  • Valid medical license and registration to practice
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting
  • Proficiency in conducting medical examinations and assessments
  • Sound knowledge of common medical conditions and their treatments
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
