The Role: Software Developer II

Grade : 9A

The Location: Hyderabad.

The Team: The data team of S&P Dow Jones Indices is responsible building and maintaining the ETL applications and database tables on which the web platforms are hosted.

The Impact: As a Bigdata Developer for the Web platform you will take part in building out new functionalities and enhancing existing functionalities of the system. You will work closely with other back-end and front-end developers, QA and application support team. The platform is hosted on AWS and developed in pyspark with kafka consumers. They interact with Oracle,Postgre Hive and other data sources. The data is processed using spark jobs running on AWS.

What We’re Looking For

Core Skills:
  • Hands on development experience in writing Apache Spark jobs using one or more of the following languages: Python/Scala
  • Have knowledge of the Hadoop ecosystem
  • Experience in Kafka messaging platform.
  • Experience or Knowledge with AWS offerings such as EC2, RDS, EMR
  • Exposure to storage layers like Apache Parquet/Delta lake is a plus
  • Hands on experience in at least one relational database (Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server , Postgresql)
  • Hands on experience in SQL queries and writing stored procedures, functions
  • A strong willingness to learn new technologies
Basic Qualifications:
At least Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent. MS in Computer Science is preferred.

Candidates without Computer Science or Information Technology degree should have significant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working in Agile/Scrum based project delivery
  • Experience in the financial services sector preferred but not required
  • At least Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent. MS in Computer Science is preferred.
