Position Scope

NACG is looking for an enthusiastic Server analyst to join its team. NACG is committed to exploring new strategies, such as public cloud and private cloud hosting, as it continues to grow across both Canada and the United States.

Under the direction of the Infrastructure Manager, the Server Analyst will support the administration, planning, operation, backup and technical aspects of a 7x24x365 hosted data center and remote project server environment.

The Server Analyst will support the administrative, planning, operational, and technical aspects of a 7 x 24 X 365 environment. The Analyst will be responsible for ensuring high levels of performance, availability and security of the server technology. The Analyst will support and train team members on existing and planned infrastructure solutions.

This position is located in Acheson Industrial area (west of Edmonton).

Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, secure, maintain, manage and support a 24/7 production environment.
    • Coordinate and participate in key process improvements as they relate to server operations.
    • Coordinate and collaborate with other IT and business teams to ensure availability, security, reliability, and scalability of systems to meet business demands.
    • Support feasibility studies for sever products under consideration for purchase.
  • Problem diagnosis, troubleshoot, and manage through to resolution, hardware, and software problems.
  • Maintain existing and assist in the development of new infrastructure governance.
    • Ensure compliance to SOX processes and procedures, as required.
    • Meet standards in IT security compliance, conforming to security standards and practices.
    • Create and maintain documentation for implemented systems and services.
    • Participate in the production of capacity planning reports.
    • Work within the company standard processes, including Change Management, Incident Management and Project Management Methodologies.
  • Provide rotational on-call after hour support 7x24x365 as well as implementing changes outside of core business hours.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT) or related field
  • Microsoft Server MCSA or MCSE certifications
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • VMware VCA or VCP certifications
  • ITIL Foundations is an asset.
  • At least five years’ work experience in a comparable position responsible for managing server environments.
  • Excellent knowledge of common Microsoft technologies
    • Active Directory Azure Active Directory
    • Exchange Online
    • File Servers
    • SharePoint
    • Office365
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining all manners of server hardware and associated server software.
    • Administrating VMware virtualization environment
    • System Automation an asset
    • Network experience an asset.
  • Industrial construction and/or mining industry experience is an asset.
  • Experience supporting customers and providing high quality customer service.
  • Ability to easily translate and articulate complex requirements.
  • Strong decision-making capabilities, with a proven ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate one.
  • An ability to effectively influence others to modify their opinions, plans, or behaviors.
  • An understanding of business needs and commitment to deliver high-quality, prompt, and efficient service to the business.
  • An understanding of organizational mission, values, and goals and consistent application of this knowledge.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends in response to the needs of the systems being supported.
  • Ability to pass a Drug and Alcohol Test, lift up to 25 Kilograms and drive a light vehicle (valid Alberta Motor Vehicle driver’s license).
  • Must be able to work occasionally in the field at Project Sites.
