Purpose of role

Develop new and unique technologies that deliver superior consumer benefit. Work as an independent researcher who understands cosmetic technologies across hair & skin categories and know how to develop prototype formulations that showcase the proof of concept. Researcher will be able to work as part of a larger R&D team consisting of research scientists, product development chemists, packaging engineers, regulatory and consumer scientists.

Qualification & Experience

  • M.Sc, B.Tech or M.Tech degree(s) in Chemistry (Physical, Organic, Integrated) or Cosmetic Science
    • B. Tech. from Tier 1 colleges preferred

  • 4-6 years experience in Cosmetics Industry/ Measurement Science

Key Deliverables of the Role

  • Under the direction of a senior level scientist, perform research across multiple innovation technical platforms based on business and consumer needs
  • Manage multiple projects and drive projects to completion
  • Solve complex problems and technical challenges with entrepreneurial spirit
  • Characterize raw material and prototype formula properties using various analytical and physical testing instruments and techniques
  • Identify technologies from outside industries that may be applied to cosmetic applications
  • Partner internally and externally to create or optimize breakthrough technologies and foster a collaborative working environment
  • Keep up to date with relevant scientific literature, patents, and competitive product launches
  • Present and communicate research in internal and external forums
  • Document project work and maintain a detailed laboratory notebook

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong fundamental scientific knowledge of cosmetic technologies including: organic and inorganic materials, polymer chemistry, emulsion/ formulation technologies
  • Knowledge of physical/chemical properties of raw materials and cosmetic formulations and proven ability to identify and transfer technologies from different industries to cosmetics
  • Experience on objective & subjective evaluation that will help in developing consumer relevant measurement method
  • Well versed in scientific literature search and compilation of search results in the form of scientific reports
  • Excellent communication, presentation, networking, and interpersonal skills
  • Innovative and creative thinker
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with an innate curiosity
  • Ability to perform patent searching and whitespace analysis will be preferred
