User Interface Engineer for Clinical Decision Support


We are looking for a talented User Interface (UI) software engineer to deliver Elsevier’s Advanced Clinical Decision Support (ACDS) solutions.

ACDS applications provide the right information at the right time for doctors, nurses and patients to make better decisions and deliver better health care.

The successful candidate has experience in frontend application development, strong analytical problem-solving skills and has worked with multitiered architectures and technologies. The candidate must demonstrate a track record of writing excellent code to build scalable, high-performing software applications. The ability to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment is a major advantage.

Key Responsibilities:
Frontend application development. Algorithm design and applying data structures effectively. Collaborate with the engineering team members and product owner(s) to groom and finalize requirements. Write top-class code that passes rigorous peer review. Design and implement unit tests, functional tests, and regression tests to validate software functionality. Complete complex bug fixes. Keep abreast of new technology developments; apply those techniques for enhancing the system. Continually explore methods to enhance code quality and system quality (e.g. automation)

Has a solid understanding of customer use cases.
  • Rallies the cross functional team around customer needs.
  • Advocates for customers with the agile team and helps inspire the team to
want to know more.
  • Creates processes that are good at discovering customer needs and product
design options.
  • Aligns team and coaches the team to ensure customer needs are met.
Product Design
  • Mastery of User-centered design process.
  • Mastery of interaction design skills and attention to detail.
  • Works with UX Researcher to understand the user needs, making proactive
use of insights to drive design.
  • Proficiency in Human Factors Engineering and other User-Centered Design
methodologies.
  • Manage the UCD deliverables for the project.
  • Assist in the developing strategy for the customer-facing product/application.
Creative Problem Solving
  • Involves customers in product innovation that delivers value to users and
growth.
  • Can challenge the status-quo with confidence.
  • Demonstrates energy and vision to see through innovative ideas.
  • Takes on board others’ ideas and provides recognition for them.

Technical Skills
  • Has an excellent knowledge of the tech stack of the organization.
  • Uses design software (Axure, Sketch, Figma, Invsion) to expert level.
  • Mentors junior designers in technical skills.
  • Builds good working relationships with tech teams.
  • Produces designs across all platforms.

Qualifications:
Experience in frontend application development (such as React, Angular). Experience in building applications in a multitiered architecture (using node.js, Spring and/or similar technologies). Expertise in data structures and practical application of data structures. Expert coding skills including demonstrated rigor in maintaining high code quality. Demonstrated ability to unit, functional and regression test code to meet high code standards. Practical knowledge of source control and collaborative tools such as Git. Demonstrated ability to be adaptable and successful in a fast-paced environment.
