Sr Software Engineer

Job Description Summary The Senior Software Engineer in DevOps is a highly visible within the DevOps team in GE Healthcare. In this role you will be responsible for owning the design & implementation of build & release strategy, working closely with Imaging & Digital Software teams, to be able to generate parallel & concurrent releases. Demonstrates deep understanding of concurrent software development, its effect on build management & releasing the builds across versions and environments.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Own/Contribute to build, releases and continuous integration process for DevOps team.
• Own/contribute actively to DevOps backlog working with software teams(across Imaging & Digital (DPS&EDS) businesses) to implement end to end solutions for software integration and delivery.
• Own, manage and improve software release process, focusing on scale and efficiency and driving consistent build environments across multiple environments.
• Manage key deliverables independently, while working closely with other team members for smooth integration & reviews.
• Work closely with Architect in driving technology initiatives such as bringing state of art technologies, standards and processes to ensure efficient & quality delivery.
• Develop the build infrastructure and continuous integration framework used across teams.
• Demonstrate authority in developing and executing automated builds and scripts.
• Learn new build and releases techniques and methodologies and trains the team in the same.
• Work with developers and partners to deliver quality software through the build and deployment system.
• Partner with and provides direction to fellow team members to diagnose bugs and formulate solutions.
• Use industry standard methodologies to improve Build, Release and Continuous integration processes.
• Own analytical and design activities using validated technologies and vested approaches and methods

Qualification and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
• 8+ years of professional experience in automation in Build & Release, Test environments

Desirable skills

• Strong Linux-based systems skills with practical experience operating on a device or virtualized environment.
• Working experience in Continuous Integration and Deployment experience using a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services
• Hands on experience deploying the containerized workloads to kubernetes
• Hands on experience troubleshooting in k8s
• Experience in building sophisticated and highly automated infrastructures.
• Strong scripting skills (Shell, Python, Bash, Ruby and/or Perl).
• Proficiency with log analysis using tools such as log parser, log stash and any modern log analysis tools.
• Good working experience in Artifact management using Artifactory or Nexus
• Experience operating in a highly secure environment, good understanding of secure development practices that conforms to various regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Excellent troubleshooting capabilities and an ability to quickly learn new technologies.
