Job Description Summary As a Staff Software Engineer with Edison Enterprise Data organization, you will be responsible for design and implementation of one or more modules, subsystems or services on Edison Health Platform. In this role you will be responsible for work that is less defined in scope, utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals. In addition, you will drive activities to improve software quality and development methodologies.

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • You will lead the execution of design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements

  • You will recommend approaches to meet the technical and program requirements

  • You will design of software service or application or component in alignment with architecture vision and own the technical design reviews

  • You will ensure to maintain code quality through best practices, unit testing and code quality automation

  • You will be the expert in writing code that meets standards and delivers the desired functionality using the technology selected for the project

  • You will be the expert in assessing application performance and optimizing/improving it through design and best coding practices

  • You will formulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements, scheduling, and contract commitments

  • You will develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems

  • You will provide technical leadership to other personnel and assigned teams; mentor others in the organization

  • You will assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

  • You will monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments

  • You will lead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and/or tasks

  • You will participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews

  • You will demonstrate the understanding of Agile software development lifecycle and able to distinguish the core inputs and outputs in each cycle.

  • You will engage in technical discussions; participate in technical designs and present technical ideas through white boarding

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

  • A minimum of 10+ years of professional experience in software development

  • Prior experience of minimum 2 years in leading a software development team

  • Strong expertise in designing scalable enterprise solutions on microservices paradigm and REST APIs.

  • Demonstrable experience on core Java (1.8 or higher) , javascript and Spring boot framework.

  • Strong experience of developing multithreaded applications.

  • Expertise in developing highly available and scalable distributed enterprise backend systems.

  • Strong working knowledge of design patterns, data structures and coding principles

  • Good understanding and experience with DevOps practices and Continuos Integration /Continuos Delivery tool chains (Git, Jenkins, Artifactory, Sonar, Code review tools).

  • Expertise in automation using Behaviour Driven Development approach Exposure to developing containerized applications/services in Docker/Kubernetes environment.

  • Sound understanding of data base technologies (both SQL and NoSQL).

  • Good understanding of Agile delivery methodology and experience in working with Scrum teams.

  • Understanding of Object Oriented Programmes paradigms and application in implementing reusable and maintainable software components

  • Expertise in core data structures as well as algorithms and has the ability to implement them using language of choice.

Desired Characteristics

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with Architects and technical leadership with confidence and clarity.

  • Experience in Cloud environments (Azure/Amazon Web Services) is a plus.

  • Should be obsessed with code quality, code performance and tools usage.
