Hybrid Working

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. We’re flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. We also have a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally are able to request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances These requests will be reviewed and agreed for a period of time i.e., will have a start and end date.

Introduction:

The System Analyst - Technical Projects, will work on multiple technical projects in the Pre-trade space for Markets Security and access management, with a key focus on taking over multiple projects which are currently being managed in silos across the Pre-Trade. Some of the key focus areas would be

(1) UT Violations across the Pre-Trade space
(2) System account management
(3) SSH Remediation Plans
(4) Centralized Record Retention
(5) Cryptography Lifecycle Governance
(6) Group wide reviews like logging and monitoring reviews
(7) OneCert feed validation projects etc.

Focus to improve reliability through observability and automation, improvement opportunities – constantly driving our Trading application environment forward, be proactive in realizing maximum value from the business through continual technical and business process improvement.



What will you be doing?

  • Work very closely with the Senior system analysts in our Markets Security and access management technical projects team
  • Work across various portfolios in Markets Pre-trade namely Fixed income, Equities and FX and manage multiple technical projects as a central function – example UT Book Access violations etc
  • Review unauthorized violations /exceptions and work with the build the bank and run the bank teams to close or remediate them.
  • Acting as a principal point of contact across the team and ensuring compliance to standards & policies.
  • Participate in workshops/discussions to help define objectives and roadmap. Tasks include assisting leads and senior system analyst with stakeholder interviews , requirements gathering, analysis etc and accomplishing this requires collaboration and synergy with Application development, GTSM , and Infrastructure teams
  • Ensure that all project status reporting is accurate, informative and timely
  • Ensure tasks are carried out in accordance within risk and control guidelines and all necessary Barclays Change Standard
  • Maintain a future focus, looking ahead to ensure any risks or dependencies are managed effectively
  • Proactively seek out and solve problems, making decisions and negotiating the right solutions to ensure the right technical and business outcomes are delivered
  • Works in shifts if required to cover APAC, EMEA and early AMER time zones


What we’re looking for:

A smart working technical individual looking for a role that will sit in RTB. This is a highly competent individual who has the complete technical understanding of the overall Markets space and combines that with good technical project management / production support experience to improve overall platform stability to support our business and applications. This person will work very closely with the Senior System Analysts. This role involves good visibility as there is major focus in security and access management projects in the Markets team

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

  • Degree in information technology or computer science or any equivalent
  • Strong understanding of how information systems works and overall understanding of the Investment Banking space and Trade Life Cycle
  • Experience with ITIL concepts and best practices
  • Experience in a production support environment at a large company
  • Strong communication skills, written and oral
  • Working knowledge of Python is mandatory
  • Experience of working with Linux/Unix or Windows operating systems
  • Experience of working with structured and/or unstructured databases like Oracle, MSSQL
  • Strong accountability and ownership to ensure projects are delivered on time
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Experience in IB Markets Technology and detailed understanding of IT Systems (F2B Flow)
  • Good knowledge of scripting and automation initiatives undertaken will be a huge plus
  • Understanding of Financial institutions, Front office technology and processes
  • Prior experience in scripting, automation and working with monitoring tools like ITRS will be a plus
  • Experience in managing DCR/ BCP activities and audit functions
  • Knowledge of AWS/Cloud platform
