Job Purpose


Legal support and advisory to HR, Admin and end to end legal advisory and management of subsidiaries of VIL.


Key Result Areas/Accountabilities


Business Support to Corporate functions of VIL, namely Human Resources and managing legal requirements of subsidiaries of VIL such as YBIL, VIMSL, VISSL etc.

  • Identify Legal exposures, mitigation of risk through effective resolution to Management and functions
  • Review critical business process and initiatives from legal perspective.
  • Enabling Capability building among the functions & business on legal issues and to inculcate governance mindset.
  • End to end support on contracting, drafting, reviewing and negotiating for HR and Admin verticals including Fixed term contracts, Service Level Agreements etc, policy drafting and advisory to HR function, management and advisory on ER issues. PF/ ESIC proceedings- regularly attend proceedings/ briefings with Counsels and formulating strategy for dealing with said issues. POSH training and advisory on issues.

  • Subsidiaries of VIL- support relating to drafting and negotiating service agreements, vendor agreements, software license agreement, advisory on manpower issues, statutory compliance issues, litigation management etc. Advisory and management of trademark proceedings for YBIL and management of consumer litigation for YBIL.
  • Periodic Training of Verticals on relevant laws relating to specific business operations with specific drive on Personal Liability, POSH Act, Privacy Law & Labour Codes, Information Technology Act and other relevant subjects which has bearing on the concerned function. Periodical Update to other functions on critical clauses of the agreement which has bearing on the concerned function.

  • Formulate appropriate legal strategy for potential issues so as to ensure Proactive legal action as and when necessary through review of critical business process
  • Engage with the Leadership team periodically to understand the business requirements and draft necessary Contracts, SOP’s, Document to support the Business and also ensure there are no back foot situations and risks are identified and adequately covered in the interest of the business while performance of the contract.
  • Driving circles to ensure zero deviation from the standard contracts. Defining the TATs for all issues and execution of Agreement escalated by the user functions.
  • Review of organizations’ policies, notices and website/ app T&Cs in line with applicable laws including IT Act and Rules thereunder, advisory on policies of VIL from the perspective of applicable data protection/ information security laws.
  • Willingness to Travel (Pan India) and attend Court hearings as may be required.

Must have technical / professional qualifications


Must have technical / professional qualifications:

  • Essential: Graduation in Law
  • Desired:
  • First Class Graduation/Post Graduation in Law from reputed law school/university.
  • Good Understanding and applicability of Telecom & IT Laws, Civil and Criminal Laws. Sound knowledge of Employment related laws, POSH Act, Law of Contracts, Privacy laws etc.
