General Summary
Responsible for Procurement of Consumables & general items, Inventory reduction, Vendor Development, Effective Supply Chain Management, ensuring cost effective & smooth materials movements.
Essential Functions.
- Procurement/Sourcing
- Identifying, developing & maintaining vendor base for obtaining timely procurement of materials at favorable terms to ensure smooth manufacturing operations.
- Planning & Procurement of material ensuring optimum utilization of materials & maximum cost savings.
- Handling the generation of purchase orders & procurement of materials as per requirements.
- Inviting offers from vendors / contractors as per requirement, evaluating techno-commercially and awarding purchase orders / job order/service order work contracts after negotiation
- Extensively involved in components development commensurate with the requirements of the product development team.
- Vendor Development/Material Management
- Identifying & developing quality vendor / supplier base for cost effective procurement of materials, spares and consumables; routine & project basis.
- Meticulously liaising with the vendors, providing technical specifications on various consumables/ materials & ascertaining adherence to the same.
- Streamlining the system and procedures, establishing effective inventory control - slow, non-moving & obsolete material, for ensuring ready availability of materials to meet the requirements.
- Negotiation & Finalization with vendors for Price and Terms.
- Looking for Cost Reduction aspects in various fields and monitoring.
- Vendor Performance Evaluation
- MIS
- Generating variance reports for assessing actual purchase against budgeted purchase and identifying the areas of improvements.
- Maintaining MIS and records pertaining to logistics, inventory levels & daily planning.
- Documentation & Implementation as per Quality Standards per ISO / TS
- Having an approach of proactiveness and due diligence as that of a prudent man in all the concerned spheres relating to company matters.
Position Holder Profile
- Required: DME/ Graduate
- Preferred/Desired: MBA/PGDBM (Material Management)
- Work Experience: 5+ yrs of experience in the concerned field
Desired Knowledge: Supply chain management, Purchase management, Negotiation & Costing Skills, Inventory Management & control
- Mental Competencies required: Excellent communication skills, Analyzing, Planning, Ability to assist & support others, well organized, Negotiation ability, Teamwork & collaboration, Positive attitude, Interpersonal skills.
Physical Demands: No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
