PURPOSE OF ROLE

To ensure in consultation with the Project/Senior/Manager Picture Research and book team, where appropriate, that visually strong and editorially appropriate images are provided for project use.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage image requests and project well as integral support to the Creative teams.
- To understand the project requirements and ensure that the most appropriate images are provided in terms of quality & editorial content.
- To ensure that image uses are legally compliant and all necessary rights (including secondary rights) are cleared in a timely manner.
- To ensure that projects are completed well within schedule and budget.
Keep a track of image requests on each project. First search on Media Archive, followed by DK preferred sites and look into the possibility of sourcing images directly from institutions, such as museums, press offices etc.
Maintain and update accurate records of agency images used in each project on the Picture Research Database to help generate picture credits.
Develop workflow and schedule awareness.
To send monthly/batch-wise agency picture spent to the Creative team.
Checks and clearances for illustrations, as and when required.
To communicate with Project/Senior Picture Researcher and Manager Picture Research on regular basis.
Keeping up to date with new sources and collections.
At the end of each project, supply RF images along with metadata files for MA ingestion.
Attend startup and debrief meetings.
Include information about sources requiring complimentary copies of the book on the Picture Research Database.

KEY SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

Graduate/Post Graduate from recognized institution/university, preferably in fields related to Fine Arts, Photography, and Graphic Design.
Relevant experience in related field.
Strong research skills and a good understanding of Design and Editorial requirements.
Strong organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent negotiation skills.
Ability to multi task and handle allocated projects.
A meticulous eye for detail.
Ability to work efficiently and harmoniously with other members of the team.
Ability to liaise well with picture agencies, individual photographers institutes, with the aim of sourcing material for DK projects.
