JOB SUMMARY**
As a member of the program team, the Associate Director - Programs will manage implementation and provides effective support to the program portfolio. The Associate Director - Programs works to increase departmental efficiency through the development and maintenance of management systems with a focus on the India, Nepal and Indonesia.

REPORTING & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
The Associate Director - Programs reports directly to the Country Director. They collaborate closely with the program department and liaise with colleagues in the Development, Finance, Monitoring & Evaluation and Operation departments.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • To continuously uphold and live the values of Orbis – Commitment, Caring, Accountability, Trust and Excellence.
  • Supervise program team to ensure smooth implementation and management of projects in India, Nepal and Indonesia; achieving deliverables on time with appropriate utilization of budget.
  • Support Country Director in developing roadmap for strategic growth of program portfolio in India, Nepal and Indonesia.
  • Lead program team in expanding the program portfolio by developing high quality innovative proposals in line with organizational priorities and processes.
  • Ensure timely implementation of planned reviews and evaluations of projects and ensure the learnings are incorporated in all future program/project design.
  • Lead the development of new partnerships and support effective management of existing and past partnerships in India, Nepal and Indonesia.
  • In collaboration with the global M&E team, support development of appropriate M&E mechanisms to improve effectiveness of program implementation. Ensure the adoption of these M&E mechanisms and provide feedback for further improvement.
  • Ensure timely submission of various reports and updates with utmost quality to Orbis HQ including donor reports/ updates.
  • Support Orbis development offices in managing donor relationships by providing necessary and relevant information about various projects from time to time and facilitating donor visits to project sites.
  • Lead planning and implementation of team training and development activities for program team to build a high-performing team that will contribute meaningfully in achieving Orbis’s goals and objectives.
  • Promote and share Orbis’s achievements and learnings at relevant professional forums nationally and internationally
  • Support expansion of research portfolio in India, Nepal and Indonesia.
  • Support Finance team to develop the country level budget and ensure efficient utilization including timely and accurate reporting to HQ, donors and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide support towards developing and managing program communication initiatives in India, Nepal and Indonesia.
  • Lead program technology initiatives in assessing and translating unmet needs into next-generation integrated healthcare technology tools consistent with Orbis’s mission, vision, and business objectives.
  • As a key member of the global program team, provide inputs and support program activities across other country offices.
  • Perform any other duties as required by the Country Director.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s or equivalent degree; Master’s Degree in Public Health or equivalent educational qualifications with at least 10 years of work experience in eye care organization with 05 years in Non-Profit sector.
  • Prior experience of working in an international non-profit environment is a plus

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Good communication skills with excellent verbal and written English.
  • Flexible, pro-active, and open-minded work style: the ability to work productively both independently and in a team-based environment.
  • Demonstrated report and proposal-writing skills.
  • Ability to travel internationally 30% of the time.
