The Team

The Portfolio Management Group (PMG) is comprised of trading groups based in New York, Columbus, Delaware, London, Geneva, and Hong Kong and is responsible for daily management, monitoring, rebalancing and implementation of tactical calls across discretionary investment management and trust portfolios. PMG owns portfolio implementation, enabling the front office to focus on other priorities (growth through client acquisitions, retention, relationship management, etc).

PMG’s primary goal and objective is to apply Portfolio Construction strategy guidance to individual client mandates, implement appropriate asset allocation and vehicle selection, deliver similar client experience across accounts, and help manage risk by daily monitoring and management of discretionary portfolios.

Role Overview

We are looking for a dynamic individual, with strong attention to detail, data analytical skills with an innovation/ automation mind set , and a keen interest in financial markets to be an integral part of the PMG team in Mumbai, India.

The primarily responsibility of PMG Mumbai team is to provide analytics and reporting support ( on control, monitoring, rebalancing, onboarding and implementation of tactical calls) to the Portfolio Managers based in US & International and to help them manage their investment books effectively for the Private Bank’s discretionary investment business. Continuous monitoring of the investment portfolios is done to ensure adherence to client’s mandate and Bank’s best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver critical and time sensitive processes with high level of accuracy within agreed timelines
  • Prepare reports to monitor drifts in the investment portfolios, monitor Cash/security activity in the accounts and identify Performance Outliers
  • Identify accounts to be traded by the Portfolio Managers based on the guidelines announced by the CIO team
  • Analyze and report risk of the portfolio using key metrics including Standard Deviation, Beta, R-Square, Risk Utilization, Tracking Error etc. in close partnership with the Portfolio Managers
  • Prepare Key Performance Indicator (KPI) packs which require monitoring the Strategic Asset Allocations, Cash & Overdraft levels, Trading Volume etc. The individual is also required to Identify / analyze drivers of change in these metrics and communicate the findings to senior stakeholders
  • Understand the requirements of onshore partners and assist the team in creating new and/or maintaining the existing reporting procedures, tools and workflows necessary to facilitate the reporting process
  • Have a controls mindset, be able to identify control gaps in the processes and implement innovative methods of making the processes stronger
  • Communicate and partner with the Clients and support teams both locally and globally
  • Address various ad-hoc analyses with quick turn around

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • 4+ years relevant experience within portfolio analytics, portfolio monitoring/risk in a quantitative research/analyst or related function preferably in Asset & Wealth Management
  • An MBA or post-graduate degree in Finance or related area preferred. CFA would be an added advantage
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills including data analysis and ability to understand data and data flows
  • Highly competent with core MS Office applications - Excel, Access and Powerpoint.Proven advanced Excel expertise is a must
  • Robust, demonstrated experience with scripting languages and/or data analysis tools like R, Python
  • Proven ability to automate and improve processes using technology. Hands on experience working on QlikView, Alteryx, Tableau, SQL is a must
  • Deep understanding of investments and ability to communicate that knowledge confidently
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate status updates and points of escalation to the broader team.
