General Description

The Business Analyst focuses on helping to achieve operational objectives by analysing business functions, documenting requirements, identifying solutions, and driving outcomes. The BA may be involved in supporting business needs around user administration, configuration management (custom or off the shelf), communicating system behaviors, reporting, performance, monitoring, coordinating system needs (end of service life, patching, upgrading), support incoming bugs & defects as well as assisting with change requests.

Essential Job Functions

· IT savvy. Strong Office Suite (Excel, MS Access, PowerPoint, Word, Visio) + MS Project.

· Demonstrates a basic knowledge of relational database theory; able to read simple database design diagrams.

· Candidate should have experience writing novice to intermediate SQL queries.

· Hands on experience with Tableau, QlikView or equivalent.

· Ability to define the purpose, goals, objectives, scope and success criteria of a pilot project with input from all stakeholders, technical staff, records management staff, and users.

· Actively participates in project management about key organizational, process and technology change projects to align systems and operations with business objectives.

· Enforce the standardization of best practices across the business (application of business process, master data, roles and responsibilities, and system use).

· Responsible for identifying, assessing, and documenting business requirements, recommending business priorities, and advising business on options, risks, and costs within an Agile process.

· Maintain product backlogs to make sure teams are working in order of priority in alignment with commercial strategy.

· Create test scenarios and perform quality assurance tests as needed.

Other Skills & Abilities

· Must have the ability to multi-task and organize effectively.

· Must be an effective verbal and written communicator with the ability to influence change and the ability to tailor communications to specific audiences.

· Experience in project, program and portfolio management planning and execution; Agile methodology experience is strongly preferred.

· Energy industry experience a plus.

· Required Skills for Strategy and Leadership: Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to translate strategy into actionable plans and delivery.

· Effective when given ambiguous tasks and assignments.

· Willing to do the detailed work necessary to ensure the success of a project.
