We are looking for an experienced Java Developer to join our qualified and diverse development team. The chosen candidate will work with our global development team and other stakeholders to develop java based applications for our various projects under central compliance umbrella.

The candidate will be responsible for understanding the designs and work on implementations on multiple initiatives that will lead to creation of robust and reliable applications

The role will require interacting with global technology partners from project space, peers from other projects and colleagues from Developer Experience and GTIS.

The candidate will also train and mentor other junior engineers within the team.

The candidate will also understand and Adhere to coding standards already laid out

What will you be doing?

  • Analyse, understand requirements from key stakeholders, and perform required development activities.
  • Software development methodologies, e.g. agile
  • Awareness of leading-edge tools, techniques and services within IT
  • Software development consisting of some of the following languages and technologies: Core Java , Java 8, Spring
  • J2EE frameworks: Spring MVC, Hibernate, Spring boot
  • Java web services: SOAP and REST API
  • Databases: Oracle, MS SQL
  • Search Engines: Elastic Search, SOLR, Apache Lucene
  • Using HTML 5, JavaScript, JQuery, CSS
  • Application servers (JBoss, Tomcat, Apache)
  • Version Control Software (SVN / CVS / Git)
  • Jira, Confluence, Jenkins
  • Experience in Cloud platforms: AWS, OpenShift, Azure is added advantage
  • Banking Security knowledge is added advantage.
  • Raise any potential blockers to the scrum master/agile team lead and come up with a mitigation plan
  • Communicate with key stakeholders about timelines, impact for any committed delivery.
  • Investigate and analyse user queries in EMA and APAC hours.
  • Coordinate SIT and UAT cycles
  • Work with Dev Lead to deliver key technology requirements using Java and other related technologies

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelors/Master’s Degree
  • 6+ years of overall IT experience
  • Possess strong understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, Object Oriented Design and Data Structures
  • Experience in writing high quality, readable, reusable, testable code.
  • Strong knowledge of multithreading
  • Experience in automating process of building, packaging and deploying software on to the platform using industry standard devops toolset
  • Skilled in Test Driven Development, Continuous Delivery, Pair programming and System integration.
  • Experience in designing and implementing security checks in the system
  • Experience in using Open Source or 3rd Party Libraries such as Log4j, Hibernate, Liquibase erc.
  • Good command on service patterns and protocols covering Web Services, API, REST, RPC. Experience of using API test frameworks
  • Proficiency with messaging systems covering RabbitMQ, IBM MQ.
  • Proficiency in DevOps and Agile style of Software Development with knowledge of tools such as SonarQube, Jenkins, Jprofiler, Maven etc.
  • Exposure to monitoring tools like App Dynamics, ELK

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Knowledge of the Compliance / Financial Crime domain will be a strong advantage.
  • Data analytical skills with ability to identify data gaps
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Ability to identify issues and risks with projects which may impact delivery timelines; and cognizance to escalate issues with vendors/management as required.
  • Extremely organized, excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly in documenting system architectures and workflows.
  • Highly self-motivated with a confident do the right thing attitude.
  • Excellent attention to detail, self-starter with demonstrable initiative.
  • Team player, co-operative, and able to work in a large team across multiple locations and time zones.
