Summary
The Content Developer reports to the Content Development Manager and works as an individual contributor to the creation, release, and maintenance of online instructional content for media products by the Mathematics & Statistics Content Development group. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: writing content and correlations; assessing content viability and appropriateness; developing content in accordance with instructional objectives; ensuring consistency of products and their components; correcting errors and responding to quality assurance issues; addressing and responding to customer issues; and occasionally performing quality assurance testing.

The Content Developer acts as a subject matter expert on Pearson authoring standards and effective styles and formats of content based on product specs and authoring tools, and may periodically contribute to establishing and reviewing guidelines and standards in order to address the needs of our customers. The Content Developer may also participate in the development and testing of new products by creating and/or reviewing functional specs, providing feedback on new product features, and testing releases of the authoring tools.

The Content Developer should be able to apply experience and department guidelines to suggest effective solutions for unique situations, pinpoint strengths and weaknesses of various alternatives, and make or recommend appropriate decisions/solutions. The Content Developer should also be able to recognize high-quality work and identify and communicate risks, potential issues, or questions about current projects and schedules to the appropriate supervisor.

Required Knowledge and Experience

Related work experience
Mathematics teaching or tutoring experience is required. Experience in education technology is preferred, but not required. Project management experience a plus.

Formal education or equivalent
BA/BS and MS in mathematics or statistics required; additional background or coursework in mathematics education and/or learning design desired, but not required. Math content knowledge and expertise through college calculus, differential equations, and linear algebra required.

Skills
Good working knowledge of Office products, especially Word and Excel, and ability to use some advanced functionality of each application. Must have good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, ability to manage time between multiple projects and priorities, and superb organizational skills. Good English written and verbal communication skills essential. Good teamwork and collaboration skills. Experience with educational technology and/or programming knowledge a plus.
