The Role

As Director of Engineering, you will lead a team of highly skilled engineers in design & development of next generation Wi-Fi software (Firmware, MicroCode, Linux device drivers, and all associated Wi-Fi software components) for our IoT product family. A key focus will be your ability to attract, hire, retain and build a high-performance team that can support and grow the Wi-Fi business. In addition, you are expected to be the subject matter expert who can provide technical guidance to the team involving design and implementation of complex features, related industry standards (IEEE, WFA), and market driven enhancements.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Work closely with cross-functional team of leaders in Engineering, Product Management, and Architecture to define short/long-term roadmap for Wi-Fi software
  • As a subject matter expert, you will provide technical leadership and spearhead all aspects of Wi-Fi software design / development / delivery
  • Direct a team of highly specialized individuals in defining and implementing next generation software architecture
  • Partner with Project Manager(s) and other technology leaders in planning and effectively executing aggressive technology development roadmap that aligns with business strategies
  • Lead by example, mentor, coach and train next level managers and senior engineers, develop career plans that align with individuals’ aspirations
  • Hire talented engineers in a timely and efficient fashion while holding high bar for technical excellence
  • Be an integral part of the leadership team that will uphold our vision and values

Minimum Qualifications:

  • E in Computer Science or Electronics & Communications, Master’s Degree (M.E/MTech) preferred
  • 15+ years of overall software design and development experience with 10+ years of hands-on experience in 802.11n/ac/ax LMAC and UMAC software
  • 6+ years of people management experience and proven track record in building / scaling team(s) for success
  • Strong background in highly resource-constrained, real-time, embedded environments (with or without an RTOS)
  • Expert in C/C++ programming with hands-on experience of writing efficient code for low power, memory constrained embedded systems
  • Experience in multi-protocol (Bluetooth, LTE, 5G) Co-Existence design and implementation
  • Deep knowledge of Network and IP Layer protocols like TCP/UDP/IPv4/IPv6
  • Hands-on experience in Agile methodology (Scrum or TDD)
  • Hands-on experience with FPGA based software development, chip bring-up and related activities
