Purpose of the Job

Alstom IS&T software development & DEVOPS team has implemented the DEVOPS stack which consists of tools like Docker, Docker swarm, GIT, Nexus, Maven, Jenkins, Kubernetes to support the CI/CD pipeline and software development and hosting.

The DevOps Expert is responsible for creating software deployment strategies that are essential for the successful deployment of software in the work environment. They identify and implement data storage methods like clustering to improve the performance of the team.

The DevOps Expert is accountable for designing, building, and optimizing automation systems that help to execute business web and data infrastructure platforms.

The DevOps Expert also develops self-service solutions for the engineering department to deliver software with excellent quality and speed. They are also involved in designing and developing scaling strategies, automation scripts, and solutions to implement, streamline, and executing the software.

The DevOps Expert will stay abreast of industry trends and best practices. They conduct research, tests, and execute new techniques which could be reused and applied to the software development project.

Purpose of the Role :

The DEVOPS Expert will report to the Lead Solution Expert, DevOps. The role is an Individual contributor role, working on maintain the different DEVOPS tools & setting up the CI/CD pipeline. The DevOps expert is expected to be the leader and liase with different IS&T teams in their DevOps needs. The primary responsibility will be to maintain the apps, monitor and manage the life cycle of the different DEVOPS tools, design devops methodology for upcomng projects. A DevOps Expert is liable for automating all the manual tasks for developing and deploying code and data to implement continuous deployment and continuous integration frameworks. They are also held responsible for maintaining high availability of production and non-production work environment and the core DevSecOps platform.

The main responsibilities include the following

• Manage the DEVOPS tools stack in Alstom IS&T
• Manage the life cycle of the tools in the stack, perform upgrades, work with other infra teams for the same
• Provide training & support to the software development & other teams on DEVOPS stack
• Develop the CI/CD pipeline
• Work on onboarding & evaluation of the new tools in the DEVOPS stack
• Interact with different metiers, managers, leads to understand their DevOps needs, help them in their journey to DevOps.

Educational Requirements:

• BE or B Tech Graduation degree

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science Engineering /Technology or related field
