The Role: Director, Cloud Architecture

The Impact :
This is an Architecture Leadership role and part of the Ratings Technology Cloud Architecture organization.

Regional Head of Cloud Architecture leads strategic initiatives, builds future state architectures, defines standards, fosters knowledge sharing and collaboration in achieving our vision.

The team has broad expertise in Ratings organization’s critical platforms, applications, data, and cloud domains. What’s in it for you:
We are looking for a Cloud Architecture Leader in Ratings Technology organization to lead execution of strategic initiatives that will achieve our technology vision.

This role will be responsible for defining strategy, designing architecture, leading development, driving principles and standards that will achieve future state architecture.

The ideal candidate should have deep expertise with application development, distributed systems, and a desire to drive change through technology alignment across the enterprise. The role requires the candidate to be hands on with modern cloud and microservices technologies.

You will partner with global staff of Product Management, Software engineers, QA, and SRE peers to work across a large, global group of agile scrum teams.

Responsibilities:
Shape the Ratings Technology strategy and roadmap that rapidly transforms the application architecture and data landscape while meeting business priorities
Develop technology leadership talent that are crucial to our world-class agile execution teams
Establish key control points and sustain consistent output that adheres to our compliance, quality and engineering standards while sustaining high velocity
Create best-in-class technology innovation that is mirrored by best-in-class security and demonstrably moves Ratings forward positively with global regulatory bodies and with the market
Evangelize the vision of Ratings Technology strategic initiatives by defining measurable and actionable outcomes for engineering teams to derive in-line transformation of our legacy applications and data
Be an early adopter of new technologies, technical skills, and capabilities, leading to continuous improvement to solutions that capitalize on emerging trends
Accelerate rationalization of legacy to serverless and future state architectures to achieve speed to market for internal and external products
Partner with engineering, QA, product management, data, and SRE organizations to ensure adoption of standards for information security and technology disciplines
Reimagine agility in highly regulated environment by embedding right control points in SDLC to achieve strong compliance and sustainable velocity while reducing friction between governance, information security, architecture and technology teams
Introduce and enable emerging technologies like Cloud, AI/ML, Blockchain, Data, and others to drive innovation across Ratings product lines
Build an architecture organization that is customer focused, multi-cloud oriented, and provides thought leadership to enable rapid technology innovation and foster career growth across the organization
Design and implement strategies to monitor the effectiveness of information security, standards programs, and strategic initiatives to identify, manage, and mitigate current and emerging risks
Attract and develop top talent, creating a cohesive culture that fosters innovation, transparency and collaboration

What We’re Looking For:
Ability to clearly articulate and build support for a strategic vision
Be relentlessly curious, take ownership and challenge the status quo
Has in-depth knowledge of the industry competitive landscape as well as deep understanding of how to implement solutions in a regulated setting
Operates globally and is able to define where strategies and tactics need to be applied globally and where locally, and to communicate that clearly and simply
Enables engineering, QA, product management, data and SRE teams to deliver business value while driving architecture strategy and achieving technology vision
Attracts and develops top talent and integrates them into our key strategic initiatives
Looks at external companies, products and capabilities and how they may accelerate Ratings technology initiatives

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
Strong experience with Distributed Systems and Microservices
10+ years of working experience with Java/J2EE
Working experience in designing and developing Distributed solutions
Solid understanding and development experience with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, or any cloud provider
Working experience with DevOps tools such as GIT, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, ArgoCD
Strong knowledge of Functional programming, Linux, Terraform, Ansible, Shell Scripting, and Content Management Systems
Skilled in managing, coaching, inspiring, growing, and building highly effective teams
Experience giving presentations and comfortable communicating in a senior leadership setting

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with web services, messaging, identity and access, and monitoring
Working Knowledge of Agile development process
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Effective communicator who influences and negotiates with great latitude on various outcomes
Experience in maintaining focus and driving results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Strength in interfacing with multiple groups with the ability to coordinate effectively, multi-task, and manage pressure
Experience in assessing change impacts, managing timelines, and commitments
Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
