Team Overview

The Data Science and Engineering team enables various data personas with robust and scalable frameworks, services and brings data to life. We partner with data producers and platform engineers to empower data engineers and data consumers (data scientists, data analysts and Business Intelligence engineers) with data and APIs for data science applications, data products and business analytics. We pride ourselves in being data curious (one who has an intrinsic need to understand a data point) and passionate about improving reliability and throughput of analytics and machine learning solutions at Salesforce. We are a globally distributed inclusive team that builds and relies on trust, constantly innovate and work towards one common theme - Customer Success.

Responsibilities
  • Drive the vision for data engineering across product verticals and define the execution path to achieve the vision
  • Build and lead a small, but highly qualified team of data engineers to deliver reliable, scalable and secure analytic data model for various business processes
  • Build partnerships with Product managers, Software Engineers, Program managers, Architects and Platform engineers to understand data consumption needs and influence instrumentation and data transport.
  • Design and Implement data pipelines that processes data continuously and produces reliable data for various data consumption use cases
  • Be the subject matter expert for data, pipeline design, and other related big data and programming technologies
  • Proactively identify reliability & data quality problems and drive triaging and remediation process
  • Be accountable for SLA’s for all data sets and processes running in production
  • Harness operational excellence & continuous improvement and inspire a can do attitude within the team
Requirements
  • B.S/M.S. in Computer Sciences or equivalent field
  • 15 + years of relevant experience in big data engineering
  • At least 5 years of experience scaling and managing 10+ engineering team
  • Experience working with Public Cloud platforms like GCP, AWS.
  • Expertise in data modeling patterns and data processing techniques in big data
  • Expertise in big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Presto, Hive, Airflow, Snowflake etc....
  • Expertise in programming pipelines in Python, Spark or Hive
  • Passionate, curious, creative, self-starter and approach problem with right methodology and intelligent decisions
  • Laser focus on impact, balancing effort to value, and get things done.
Preferred
  • Hands-on on Salesforce products knowledge and functionality a plus.
