Intoduction:

The Framework developer will support the division across all regions (EMEA/AMER/APAC) to accelerate product development by developing automated framework and achieve continuous delivery of product. The successful candidate will have hands-on skills building the automation framework written in Java language as well as co-ordination with teams across London, New York, Singapore, Pune & Prague delivering automated solutions across product lines to accomplish automation vision for Barclays. This role also includes responsibility of making project DevOps ready.

• Develop automation framework and tools for BATS project as defined by business requirements and prioritization.
• The ideal candidate will fit into the team and the current code base, make it their own, and use this as a base to be able to design and develop new components. This will include ongoing re-implementations of the existing frameworks, extensions thereof and ongoing support of those systems.

The QA team is responsible for signing off all releases to UAT (for user sign off) and ultimately Production. We have developed (and still continue to develop) a state-of-art automation platform which allows components as well as integration testing of any and all components “front-to-back” (as mentioned above). The role is for a Senior developer to help with the development of our platform but also to look after our tools and services which make Automation possible. You will be responsible for the harness (or framework) development and maintenance; this framework allows Test Engineers to script their test cases using a home-grown fluent interface which abstract completely from the technologies used to send/receive an event, create order, route the order and process the execution report. As a framework developer however, you need to be familiar with the underlying technology to develop that abstraction layer adequately. This is one of the most challenging and rewarding environment to work on as it covers all aspect of testing of the Markets Execution flow.

You would also have responsibility to develop and maintain our Exchange simulator and Test repository applications used by team across the globe.

The role also includes liaising with the global dev teams in order to understand the changes they are making so that the framework can be changed accordingly; talking with QA stakeholders and numerous Test Engineer split in multiple locations.

What will you be doing?

• Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders
• To gather requirements, collect and provide feedback and test status on regular basis.
• Work closely with the business users/stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver high quality testing deliveries.
• Support of test automation effort across QA, UAT phases of new releases SUT (System Under Test)
• Develop Automation Test strategy and help with creation and execution of automated test cases for applications.
• Support development and execution of test plans and automated test cases that ensure deliverables are of high quality.
• Ensuring that test automation efforts are delivered within established strategy and overall maintenance of programs/applications to verify that the program functions according to requirements and established guidelines.
• Help manage test environment and test data ensuring support of test efforts and schedules.
• Collaborate with development teams on common approach of Continuous delivery model.
• Develop and design automation test.

Person Specification

• Strong experience in automation and manual testing.
• Strong experience in design and execution of test plan and test strategy.
• Experience in core Java.
• Experience working on a Unix/Linux shell.
• Experience with build stack based on Maven, Continuous Delivery.
• Experience using Unit test frameworks such as JUnit and TestNg.
• Be able to interact with global teams.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with others, self-starter
• Able to take on responsibility and work independently
• Fluent English – oral and written
• Results-oriented, self-starter with positive "can-do" attitude

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Experience in Python.
• Experience in Stress/Performance tests and results analysis.
• Experience working in a large, globally distributed development team and within agile environment
• Investment banking knowledge
• Experience in testing Algorithmic Trading and Algorithmic Order Processing.
• Knowledge of financial instruments, including FX, Rates and Credit.
• Solid understanding of release management methodology, processes and procedures.
