Mission

  • Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration and maintenance of the Altiris Symantec environment. Administration of Remote support tool BeyondTrust and Lenovo Thin Client devices.
  • Systems Administrators primary activities include: Altiris Administration and Management,Software package creation, patch management, Asset management, Software Application Metering,Altiris Agent Health Monitoring,customizations reporting,Active Directory user,Group Policy management, networking, OS management, Bomgar Administration ,Thin Client Management and customer applications. Additionally, Systems Administrator administers and maintains hardware and system softwares.

Responsibilities

As a Team Member, ensure that,

  • Ensure the 24X7 availability of all systems, applications, and infrastructure
  • Managing Symantec Altiris Management Platform based solutions,such as Inventory Solution, Asset Management,Application Metering,symantec Altiris Agent / Software Update Plug-in functionality
  • Creation of software package and troubleshooting installation of software packages.Experience in creation of Policies and Filters/Tasks in Altiris
  • Managing and maintaining patch management (Distribution of Patches, Hotfixes and other updates)and able to Troubleshoot and analyze the root cause of issues.
  • Strong scripting experience using Powershell, Bash, VB scripting in order to build automated procedures in line with Altiris.
  • Developing SQL queries and creation of custom reports using SQL against the database.
  • In-depth experience with Windows 7 & Windows 10 configurations and applications - imaging, deployment, and automations
  • Should have good working Knowledge in microsoft server and workstation operating systems – Windows 2008 R2, 2012 and 2016
  • Utilize the Bomgar remote desktop control utility to assist end users with problems.
  • Managing and Supporting of Thinclient Devices .
  • Creating and Managing of Application performance monitoring scenarios using with Witbe tool
  • Participate in anticipating, mitigating, identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware and software issues on workstation in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Coordinate with other staff, to prioritize and work on continuing to improve existing systems
  • Review new technology according to company direction
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory environment
  • Track and input time on tickets
  • Stay current with system information, changes and updates
  • Ability to speak to a non-technical audience about technical problems
Apply, (communicate and ensure if manager) the compliance with the procedures and Environmental, Safety and Security good practices, to know, for their activities and the activities of subcontractors, the potential risks and their consequences, be there attentive and be reagent and know the associated action plans.

Education/Training

  • Graduation (BE/MCA/MSC IT) with no history of arrears .
  • 3-4 years of Altiris administration or commensurate IT technical experience
  • Strong knowledge and interest in Windows operating systems and technologies, troubleshooting experience.
  • Knowledge of Linux Environment and Thinclient will be added advantage
  • Knowledge of remote support tools and application performance monitoring
  • Wintel Troubleshooting and Vendor coordination experience..
  • Monitoring of Altiris servers and troubleshooting to fix the issues and alerts on the servers on 24X7 shift support.
  • Strong knowledge with infrastructure services and systems, including Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, DFS and Group Policy (automation, setup, implementation, optimization, etc.), Server backup, Server deployment on WIndows and Linux Platforms.
  • Basic understanding of the workings and operation of virtual environments

Professional

  • 3 to 4 + Years, relevant for Engineer Position
  • Experience with Altiris Administration
  • Experience with Remote Supporting (Bomgar) and Thinclient Devices
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows platforms
  • Familiarity with Application Performance Tools.
