Summary

The Lead EDI Technical Specialist works closely with IT Supply Chain, business analysts, various teams, customers and vendors in electronic communication of purchase order, advance ship notice, invoice, product activity and other business transaction data for Advance Auto Parts and trade partners. This position will have responsibility for MFT & EDI Business Processes (BPs), map and integration including production support and new project design and documentation using IBM applications including Sterling Integrator (SI) and Transformation Extender (ITX).

This position will ensure current SI BPs and EDI maps are efficient and aligned with our vendor and customer specifications. This position is responsible for successfully and efficiently generating SI MFT and EDI maps, BPs and technical documentation as assigned.

The expectation for this role is to build strong cross-functional and collaborative relationships with business customers, vendors and internal IT partners to fully understand their strategies and needs. This position is exposed to and must understand the processes used by multiple teams within Advance Auto Parts for successful process, product and service delivery.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Expert level understanding of the IBM SI and ITX tools and related infrastructure including AIX, Linux, SSP, SEAS, Oracle DB, SSIS, SP
  • Experience with SI upgrade
  • Recent and detailed experience with ITX integration with Kafka, and REST API
  • Understand AAP business drivers, processes and team functions as they impact MFT, EDI and the business in general
  • Provides significant input to management on strategic and tactical planning of initiatives including automation of processes for alerting internal teams and trade partners of failed documents
  • Creates and automates scheduled processes
  • Manage complex SI/EDI/MFT technical support activities
  • Leads development, testing and deployment of EDI maps, specification documents, process flows and architectural diagrams
  • Drives new map, system, and process implementation using the traditional EDI standards, cXML and XML-based Web solutions
  • Works directly with trading partners and business teams in the evaluation, design, development, and implementation of EDI/e-commerce solutions
  • Leads and participates in project teams to provide input regarding EDI/e-commerce solutions
  • Configure & test TP profiles and connections with new EDI trading partners with direct connection in SI (SFTP, HTTP, AS2) and with VANs
  • Design, develop and test new EDI Transaction maps
  • Educate associates on EDI processes, requirements, capabilities and integration points
  • Drive new process implementation to increase operational efficiencies

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in B2Bi (SI) BP and map Development
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in ITX map, API and Kafka integration Development
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Oracle Application Express Development and/or Oracle DBA experience
  • Expert ability to produce and document X12, flat file, and XML transaction structure
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, Microsoft Office as well as the ability to quickly learn and use job specific computer applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to read, analyze and interpret general business information and write business correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, vendors and/or team members
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact effectively with and influence, team members of all levels
  • Excellent organizational, problem solving and prioritization, follow-up skills and work independently with minimal supervision, including ability to balance multiple tasks and work effectively in a fast paced environment
  • Proven analytical skills and use of data query tools with high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure; calculate gross margin and markup; and, compute ratios, percentages, and create and interpret bar graphs.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree; and 7+ years SI EDI technical work experience, including minimum 3 years retail EDI experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in ITX and Kafka integration using API
  • Must have 5+ years XML transformation experience
  • Must have Oracle Application Express (APEX) and/or Oracle Forms and/or Oracle DBA

Supervisory Responsibilities

May have some supervisory responsibilities including meeting with, mentoring and training EDI Support staff.
