04/03/2023Performs duties associated with the maintenance and repair of building structures, associated systems, and equipment through proficient and knowledgeable skills in the area of electrical, both on commercial and residential scales. Most incumbents have this specialized area of expertise, but can provide assistance in all areas of building maintenance.

Incumbent must meet pre-employment drug and alcohol testing requirements; subject to random drug and alcohol testing, including reasonable suspicion.

  • Reports consistently for work as scheduled

  • Adds electrical outlets for user convenience and new equipment
  • Cooperates with other trades as a team member
  • Coordinates remodeling projects and specifications with other trades
  • Designs, installs and expands electrical distributing systems in specialized classroom and support areas
  • Ensures that all safety rules and regulations are followed to the prescribed measures
  • Identifies existing and future electrical problems and potential hazards
  • Installs new or repairs or re-arranges light fixtures, switches, photo cells, security lighting, regular lighting and emergency/exit lighting
  • Maintains building emergency systems
  • Maintains clean and efficient operating work area and district equipment to include vehicles
  • Performs duties associated with building repairs and remodeling including electrical work, repair and maintenance on district facilities
  • Performs installations and repairs in manner consistent with uniform state and local electrical codes to ensure protection of electrical systems
  • Performs related emergency repairs as needed
  • Plans and performs minor electrical repairs to the facilities and reports major discrepancies
  • Prepares and enters records of work performed and parts used on all district equipment repaired
  • Prepares work orders and reports/solves maintenance problems before they become emergencies
  • Provides assistance in resolving technical problems
  • Reads and interprets service and parts manuals
  • Removes and replaces outdated wiring and equipment including breaker panels and wiring devices
  • Responds to all service breakdowns and work orders as required
  • Responds to emergencies dealing with power outages, short circuits and disabled equipment
  • Stocks and maintains electrical truck with equipment, tools and supplies
  • Troubleshoots electric motors that operate plumbing, heating, ventilating, air conditioning and laundry equipment

  • Has oral and auditory capacity enabling interaction interpersonally and/or through communication devices

  • Lifts or carries burdens weighing up to 50 lbs., and pushes and/or pulls other burdens weighing 100 lbs.
  • Has visual capacity enabling safe operation of tools and machinery
  • Conducts activities involving climbing, stooping, kneeling/bending, crouching/squatting, crawling, twisting, and reaching utilizing a ladder or a lift
  • Works with arms and hands extended at shoulder height or higher with a weight up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb poles and work on equipment located high on buildings and structures

Required Qualifications

Colorado Driver’s License - Department of Revenue - Division of Motor Vehicles, High school graduate -high school diploma or equivalent, Master Electrician License - Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Colorado
