Job Description: Rolling Stock – Rail Interiors Design Lead
Roles & Responsibilities:

Take over design responsibility for the whole interiordesign scope in a new project from scratch
Investigate and prepare conceptual decision making based on requirements and cost (cost value engineering if necessary)
Lead and delegate an offshore design team in India
Interface clarification to neighbouring systems in all systems
Alignments with customer buyers department for all interior
Technical supplier management for all interior
undertake supporting 3D-Design tasks during the concept design phase in order to study the customer procedures and way of working
Conduct the detail design, integration and manufacturing design for one or more systems as an independently working design engineer, delegating work to the offshore team in India
Interface clarification to neighbouring systems in interior and other systems
Technical supplier management for the assigned systems

Required Skills (Technical Competency):

~12 to 15 Years Experienced design engineer including concept design (5 years in Rail domain)
Material processing know how for relevant materials: GRP, Metals, Glass, Wood etc.
Preferred experience in large cabin interior design (trains, trams, busses, planes)
Experienced in leading engineering teams
Experienced in technical supplier management
Trained in 3D-CAD, including CREO and SAP
Knowledge on rolling stock design/Loco CAB Design / Train interiors Design
Ability to support for validation of assemblies, various installations on Loco CAB Design / Train interiors Design
Ability to design and detail assigned sub-module of train system with support from interior function owners
Ability to define component and assemblies of sub-systems as per manufacturing & assembly concepts
Knowledge on Tolerance stack-up analysis and recommend feasible solutions in accordance with manufacturing capabilities
Ability to analyse and propose retrofit solution for existing design modifications
Capable of selecting appropriate fasteners for various assemblies
Good drawing reading skills and dimensioning standard
Knowledge on welded joints design & symbols
Knowledge of material properties, heat treatment and surface coating
Knowledge on Rail industry standards for various regions
