DefinitionCost Estimating is defined as: Provides cost estimates/comparison costs forthe value of goods that are provided by the supply chain.Overall Purpose Of The RoleTo collect and analyse data and information in order to estimate costsassociated with manufacturing a product. Works proactively towards costtarget objectives in collaboration with others.Job holders in this role may take responsibility for a limited amount ofcomponents within the design and manufacturing process. More senior roleshold more responsibility and accountability and have a larger remit in terms ofcomponents and financial accountability.Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral and Task ManagementDetermine cost estimate targets during the design and developmentprocess, recommending cost effective solutionsGather proposals, specifications and related documents and liaise withstakeholders in order to convert specifications to cost estimates for newand current productsUtilise cost methodologies and tools and appropriate software models andpackages to prepare and maintain reliable and accurate dataEstablish cost estimates of production processes and tooling costs andreview alternatives or put forward recommendations for improvementAssess cost effectiveness of products and track actual costs relative tobudget and report status on a regular basis to ensure costs are in line withforecastsMonitor and review data and information to detect or assess problemsInvestigate and identify cost reduction opportunities through cost analysisreviewContribute to cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures andmonitor trendsPrepare cost and expenditure statements, reports and other necessarydocumentation at regular intervals to share with others in the businessSupport all activities in cost estimating and take a proactive approachtowards improvementsThis job is provided by Shine.com
