The Role: Associate Editor, Steel and Raw Materials Markets

Grade ( relevant for internal applicants only ): 9

The Location: Gurgaon
The Team: This is a frontline market reporter and price assessor role for Indian steel, iron ore and coking coal/coke markets. Based in Gurgaon, the person will work closely with team members in Singapore in actively engaging with market participants to find out latest goings-on in the markets and reporting on them via daily commentary and news stories. The person will also contribute to longer-form analysis and features monthly.
The Impact: Platts coverage of global ferrous markets is one of the most respected and closely followed and is backed by industry benchmarks in steel raw materials like iron ore and coking coal. This is an opportunity to take ownership of markets that Platts has a foothold in and bring it to the next phase of development, in the world’s second-biggest steelmaking country.

Responsibilities:
  • Gather, verify and record pricing information from primary sources
  • Produce price assessments adhering to published methodology
  • Write insightful market commentary, news and analysis on a daily basis
  • Actively engage with industry to build relationship with market participants
What We’re Looking For :
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Desire to take ownership of a market in informational and relationship terms
  • Ability and willingness to engage with market participants on a daily basis
  • Ability to write reports from information gathered on a daily basis
  • Ability to work in a team and matrix setting
  • Strong command of written and spoken English, spoken Hindi necessary. Other Indian languages/dialects a plus.
  • Critical thinking abilities, strong sense of initiative and attention to detail
  • Conscientious user of Excel
  • Experience in market reporting and analysis, and in metals or other commodity markets would be advantageous, but not necessary
