The candidate for this position will lead the Communications Solutions Engineering teams in Bangalore and will have an oversight responsibility across all the services within this Business Unit. This includes CallerID, Trusted Call Solutions, OMS, ENUM/PathFinder and Numbering Services.

The candidate will be responsible for managing the teams, providing technical direction and architecture oversight, help set and implement the SDLC processes, work closely with the corresponding software application development for new and ongoing products.

Job Duties (Summary)

  • Product Delivery: Ensure that Engineering delivery plans and schedules are in alignment with Product Management direction. Deliver high quality product releases on time within allocated budget. Ensure that the platforms and services under purview remain highly available and scalable.

  • Talent Development/Management: Create and maintain a team culture characterized by a high level of performance and productivity. Regularly communicate the goals, plans, expectations and performance metrics to the team. Recruitment - including leveraging personal network to attract and retain key talent. Training, mentoring and development of top-quality talent across his / her organization.

  • Internal Communications: Communicate clearly and regularly, both internally within the Engineering team and “externally” with Product Management on the status of all key deliverables. Communicate clearly and regularly, both internally within the Engineering team and “externally” with Product Management risks, solutions, options and recommendations as issues arise. Work with Program Management Office to coordinate activities with other functional groups to achieve corporate objectives. This includes Network Engineering and Operations, Customer Support, Solutions Engineering, Core Hosting, and Corporate IT.

  • Technical/Domain leadership: Demonstrate technical competence in all areas of the general Engineering discipline. Have a solid understanding of the product and markets of the products you are responsible for to enable you to be a good business partner to your colleagues in Product Management, Sales and Marketing and to enable you to make good context-based decisions. Expertise in offering services that run in virtualized environments in private or public clouds, containerized applications and services.

  • Manage teams that follow Agile SDLC processes, provide guidance and leadership with a focus on continuous improvement, build and test automation, continuous integration and deployment.

Qualifications/Experience

  • 15-20 years of experience developing complex, reliable software systems.

  • Experience of leading large engineering teams including employees and contractors

  • Experience of working in a matrixed organization in close partnership with product management for a global organization delivering complex, highly technical products or services.

  • Lead a team of software engineers and DevOps engineers in an agile development environment and navigate deep into technical problem space.

  • The ability to coach multidisciplinary software teams, helping them improve their skills and grow their careers in all aspects of SDLC.

  • Strong analytical, leadership, and partnering skills.

  • This person should have worked in a larger, established company; however experience in an entrepreneurial, fast growing environment is highly desired. He /she must have a proven track record of operating in an environment of sustained revenue and profitability growth while demonstrating a customer-centric leadership style.

  • Experience with Cloud native development, Containerization solutions like Docker, Orchestration tools like Anthos, Kubernetes will be a plus. Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment tools (eg: Jenkins, Ansible, Gitlab)

Professional and/or technical certifications/education Qualifications:

  • Required:

    • BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent

  • Desired:

    • MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent

  • Candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering mission critical services in the field of voice and data applications to global carriers and enterprises working in a fast-paced DevOps environment.

  • Have an entrepreneurial mindset of solving real world problems by designing, developing and maintaining features, solutions and scalable production grade microservices in collaboration with other product and engineering teams.

  • Work closely not only with external vendors and partners, but also with internal teams across Product Management, Engineering, Operations, Business Development, Sales, and Marketing.

  • As an experienced and motivated leader, possess a unique balance of technical depth and strong interpersonal skills, guide and mentor the teams.

  • Recruit, attract and retain talent, make hiring and employee onboarding decisions.

  • The candidate will become the trusted customer advocate and help them understand best practices around Neustar’s solutions (On-prem and cloud-based), and how to best manage various workloads leveraging microservices based architecture across the spectrum using serverless and container technology to auto scale critical services that span across different infrastructures.
