Function Description

Global Commercial Services (GCS) accounts for nearly 50% of American Express’ card spend. GCS continues to be a fast-growing business within American Express with the key objectives of accelerating growth, increasing profitability, and enhancing product value propositions to meet client needs. The Commercial Insights India team within GCS is instrumental in driving these objectives by providing actionable data driven insights and consultative solutions to sales, account development and clients across the globe. The role is an exciting opportunity to be part of the GCS growth story in a dynamic, intellectually stimulating, open, fun, and collaborative environment.

Commercial Insights team works with Global and Large clients to provide Insights & analytical products to optimize their travel programs. Team is responsible for providing deep, actionable insights to clients by leveraging the power of American Express’ Integrated Network data, as well as data from airlines, expense management systems, hotels, travel management companies, etc. The key focus of the insights is to help clients drive savings, improve Policy compliance, and identify opportunities to earn more financial incentives. We do this by working in close partnership with the Account Development teams and in direct contact with the clients, who are predominantly from Procurements, Finance and Corporate Risk profile. This function is a unique differentiator of the value-proposition that American Express delivers to its clients.

Developing these scalable solutions will help GCS sales, ADs and senior leadership drive client engagement and elevate relationships with key decision makers across the portfolio.

Purpose of the Role

Develop, design & deploy insights products for commercial clients providing insights and actionable recommendations to optimize their travel and expense programs. Drive efficiency and scale via automated utilities & solutions that can drive scale and enable deeper penetration of insights products to meet customer needs.

Individual is preferred to bring and build T&E domain expertise, industry, and business trends that’s helpful in consultative discussion with key client personas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enable data driven actionable insights for Sales/AD & clients to enable growth and retention
  • Conduct prototyping of insights products and services based on client needs using tools like HIVE, Python, SQL, VBA
  • Conceptualize and develop scalable client facing insights solutions, including feeding into digital roadmap
  • Strengthen solution algorithms to make them industry-leading insights products for American Express through internal and external research
  • Leverage advanced analytics algorithms to drive innovative solutions
  • Partner with technology to put offline products to scalable digital roadmap, manage end to end delivery plan and associated risk. Plan and drive the PI delivery schedule
  • Conceptual thinking skills and ability to identify and implement technical solutions to achieve process automation and improve individual and group’s productivity
  • Successfully engage in multiple initiatives linked to big bets or team strategy, lead or support ongoing projects and provide consultative expertise focused on win-win solutions
  • Provide thought leadership, E2E and strategic perspective in driving initiatives, challenging Status quo, driving innovation, and addressing evolving customer’s needs.
  • Act as a Subject matter expert /domain expert in T&E/B2B industry - Responsible for driving continuous improvements in our insights products as well as creating new products by leveraging expertise.

Experience:

  • At least 1 years of extensive experience in data & analytics; hands-on programming, data mining and Insights dashboards development using large volumes of granular data to deliver analytical solutions
  • Expertise in programming tools Hive / SAS / SQL / Excel / Tableau
  • Knowledge and application of statistical methods
  • Strong Client and stakeholder management; Communication skills; Presentation skills

Preferred:

  • Experience in payments, financial sector (any other relevant) industry preferred
  • Experience with analytics for commercial clients / travel & expense programs / fintech’s preferred
  • Experience in product development / exposure to implementation of Agile/Scrum methodologies

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Econometrics, Mathematics, Operations Research
  • Preference to MBA and Post graduate candidates
  • Expertise in programming tools Hive / SAS / SQL / Excel / Tableau
