Job Description:


Summary :

  • This position will be part of Mechanical commodity and will report to Mechanical commodity Lead
  • This position will be responsible for driving all part sourcing, development of category
  • This position is critical as taking care of all Critical Transmission, Power-Train, Hydraulic. High competence level is required for Electro Hydraulic system, Construction Equipment Parts sourcing
  • This position is responsible for performing all the developments which requires a close co-ordination with different Global platforms of above competencies.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for Mechanical - Hydraulics & PWT (Hydraulic systems, Construction Equipment Hydraulic, Electronic Interface for advanced products)
  • New Product development - To enable various activities of Design Reviews, Supplier Interactions, Development Plans, Technical support to meet project time lines.
  • Current Product Management - To support Plants supply-chain from supplier capacity and other operational challenges.
  • Quality & Reliability improvement by supporting CPM Profiles
  • Planning and undertaking Supplier Improvement plans thru Reactive/ preventive and Proactive approach to de-risk the business
  • To interact with peers of various functions like Supply-chain, SQE, PD, Plant Quality, PDP and AMS.
  • Has to interact on activities like NPD bottlenecks, Suppliers evaluation, PIR resolution, Current product improvement, support to supply chain bottlenecks etc.

Key Performance Indicators :

  • Cost : Deliver agreed yearly budget for commodity / Raw-Material
  • Drive Cost Reduction Initiatives (Commercial and technical) to ensure commodity competitiveness
  • Supplier Strategy develop and align to support future business growth and product development
  • Suppliers engagement to ensure adequate supplier capacity to meet yearly plan and +98% OKTS target
  • Zero Business disruption

Major Challenges :

  • Mechanical Hydraulic cluster has emerged as a major challenging area for NPD as well as for CPM due to complexity & volume of parts development / changes / varieties & also a very challenging supplier base.
  • Thus, this need to have a highly competitive purchasing professional with high level of expertise in this commodity. This position requires having a high level of internal networking and also having a good relationship with suppliers for managing and streamlining the activities in this area
  • For Process & methods / Reporting, needs to be very meticulous, interactive & accurate in terms of data & should have excellent presentation skills.

Interaction with Global competencies for Engine/Hydraulic & CE platforms.

Qualifications/Skills :

  • Skill sets, both in terms of leadership and functional competencies supported by varied experience. Mechanical is going through new projects/BCC projects development phase and hence a person with sound commercial knowledge, strong negotiation skill and good leadership quality is required. Desirable having experience with Construction Equipment OEMs and handled Japanese supplier base.
  • Exposure in the handling of Global Aggregate / system suppliers for Mechanical – Hydraulics
  • Leadership skills to handle team and contingency situations
  • Mechanical Engineer with 12 to 16 year of experience
