Software Engineer

Applies business requirements and knowledge of a full software design lifecycle to develop products that satisfy customer needs.

Role Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:

• Develops knowledge and understanding of technologies in LSEG and utilises these in own scope of work and others as well as to build solutions
• Autonomously writes clean, efficient code based on specifications to develop complete solutions occasionally utilising multiple languages or technologies
• Handles own workload and promotes an open and inclusive culture
• Builds knowledge of software development and utilises this knowledge within work
• Works on design work and planning for user journeys
• Completes the delivery of given tasks with some mentorship and oversight
• Builds positive relationships with their team and colleagues, collaborating closely with team
• Communicates clearly and in a timely manner, keeping clear lines of communication open to ensure full understanding of information and tasks and asking questions where needed
• Takes interest to develop knowledge in technology products and tools through on the job learning, certifications and projects.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Professional qualification or equivalent
• Solid understanding of at least one programming language and the ecosystem of this
• Some knowledge of patterns
• Previous experience in a Software development and delivery role.

Shown experience in hands-on development of solutions (web applications, web services, desktop applications) on J2EE/ Java 8+.
Experience in developing apps using data storages both relational and non relational. Experience in AWS Services like. Lambda, Dynamo DB, SQS.
Hands on experience in Spring and Spring Boot framework. Should have had experience in customer communications.

Development background:
Strong development background with the development platform (Java2JEE)
Strong background using various libraries, framework and patterns in particular technology stack
Strong background in design and implementation of external services integrations (using REST, SOAP)
Experience in e in Apache Kafka or any such queue system is a huge plus.
Experience with full lifecycle software development processes, approaches and methods (SCRUM / AGILE)
Deep expertise in solution (Web application architecture, Web services architecture, Solution cross-cutting concerns (security, monitoring, caching, etc.))

Strong understanding of OOPS and Data Structures.
Experience in crafting build pipelines using Gitlab or GitHub.

Understand performance issues and approaches to address them systematically
Strong communications skills:
Excellent general interpersonal skills
Educating the customer representatives, listen and handle their concerns.
Proficient in English
