Developer - Test Automation

Job Description Summary The Test Automation Developer is in charge of building, managing and improving the automated test environment, to develop generic services and write test-scripts to test automatically our Grid Automation products. These tasks contribute to our Software Factory, which is our CI/CD (Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment) framework, as part of the SDLC (software development life cycle) and provide framework for the Integration and Validation team for carrying out the Automated Tests on the Substation Automation Software.Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

• Implement CI/CD build principles, write scripts to build pipelines and to automate tasks.
• Implement / integrate automated test solutions
• Validate deliveries by participating in integration tests, ensuring that quality criteria are met and ensuring overall consistency of deliverables
• Write design documentation to explain how to implement & integrate new required services/API in the current test environment
• Author and review test plans and validation and verification reports. Estimation, planning and execution of tests.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives through the definition, dissemination and application of good practices, standards and processes. Identify and propose technology choices, analyze their impact
• Working closely with the Technical Lead in order to understand the specification and support the prepare the test automation strategy to have a full test coverage (traceability matrix).
• Reviewing detailed functional and technical specifications.
• Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy. May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills.
• Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
• A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team. For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Explains technical information to others.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), with a minimum of 4 years of professional experience
• Strong Knowledge of Substation Automation.
• Hands on experience in creating test strategy, validating and testing of substation automation products and solutions
• Knowledge of serial SCADA protocols (e.g. DNP3, IEC 60870-5-101, 103, Modbus)
• Knowledge of LAN-based SCADA protocols (e.g. IEC 61850-8-1, DNP3/TCP, IEC 60870-5-104, Modbus TCP, TCP/IP Suite, PRP)
• Experience with protocol simulators and analyzers and test tools such as ASE2000, Triangle Micro works, UNICA ANALYSER and Wire shark
• Experience with Agile software development, project management methodologies
• Good knowledge of virtualization (VMWare, VCenter, Hypervisor) is highly appreciated.
• Competencies in the use of test tools and test automation, familiar with scripting/Test Management tools (e.g. python, Silk test, QTP, Selinium, TestComplete, Labview, Katalon etc.) and end to end test automation frameworks (e.g. Protractor/Cucumber, ...)
• Experience with Linux and Windows, good knowledge of LDAP (Active Directory) administration is highly appreciated
• Ability to work independently and should be a good team player
• Strong Critical Thinking/Problem Solving Skills.
• Flexible and adaptable; open to change and modification of tasks, display initiative
• Able to share ideas and work well in a team environment.
