You’ll be our: Plant Head, Vehicle and Battery

You’ll be based at: Ather Manufacturing Plant, Hosur

You’ll be Aligned with: Head of Manufacturing

You’ll be a member of: Operations Team

What you’ll do at Ather:

● Overall responsibility for all internal manufacturing (Products, Sub-assemblies) activities at the Hosur Plant reporting to the Head of Manufacturing

● Responsible to lead two plants at Hosur (Battery Plant and Vehicle Plant)

● Work as a designated Factory manager for both the plants and hence ensure relevant compliance requirements are met and standing orders are adhered to

● Responsibility includes management and delivery of key plant KPI’s (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and Morale) and relevant expansion projects

● Responsible for building capacity , capability and Ather culture within the plant

● This role is required to understand the Company Vision , the broader Manufacturing strategy and create the plant vision and strategy in line with the same to fulfill broader objectives

● Work on leading and strengthening the manufacturing operations team including production, maintenance, Incoming Quality Control , In process Quality control, Safety

● Work very closely with the Cross Functional team members from all support functions to ensure plant and operations objectives are met

● Collaborate with various function e.g. Program management, Business, Supply Fulfillment (Materials, Logistics, Warehouse) Finance, People Operations and People Strategies (HR), Facilities (Site Services, Admin, IT, Security, Transportation) to ensure the right priorities are being picked up to support plant vision

● Lead a team of 1500+ manpower at the plant

● Work closely with HR team to create and drive meaningful and sustainable Employee Relations Strategy

● Ensure Plant operations in compliance (letter and spirit) with legal (Local, National and International), policies (corporate, EHS, HR, Finance, IT, IP, etc.), through the establishment of communications, systems, controls, and oversight.

● Drive improvement initiative across the plant e.g.

- Projects for cost optimisation by reducing work content, improving productivity, resource optimisation

- Ensuring adherence to process standards and ensuring Quality standards are being maintained

- Ensuring compliance to EHS and ergonomics standards

- Participating in capacity expansion projects

● Provides leadership on early identification, mitigation, and resolution of any industrial dispute which may arise as part of the Operations at the plant

  • Work with Finance to establish Budgets and other planning and control tools, and manage spending and outcomes effectively.
  • Define and coordinate various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g., training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, etc.
  • Ensure building of team culture in line with Organisation culture
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing practices to bring in best business results
  • Support team in high Impact Problem solving

  • A Smart professional with quick learning abilities, adaptability and passion towards manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge and experience as an Industrial Engineer/ Production Engineer
  • Good understanding of shop-floor management
  • Good understanding of Ergonomics, EHS, Quality Control
  • Understanding of labor laws
  • Experience handling union and labor issues
  • Good understanding of Lean Manufacturing practices
  • Hands on Problem solving experience
  • Ability to lead a large team
  • Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to optimize team performance, and mentor team members for their development
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Results oriented with ability to plan and deliver against goals
  • Commercially and financially astute with experience of managing budgets
  • Resilient, self-motivated and able to work well under pressure
  • Demonstrable experience in strategic manufacturing leadership delivering effective manufacturing strategies, policies, processes, and systems

You bring to Ather:

  • Bachelor / Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial Engineering or MBA in Industrial Engineering (Premier engineering / MBA colleges)
  • Relevant experience of 14 - 20 years
