Position Summary

Bechtel is seeking a Work Package Engineer for the Mining & Metals team, based in Peru. Work Packed Engineer shall provide a full range of technical/administrative support of a responsible and confidential nature to assist the project Construction Work Package issues. The ability to work well in a team environment, keeping workload organized with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Duties require accuracy, judgment, a high degree of initiative, discretion, diplomacy, and knowledge of protocol.

Working with the Field Engineering Team to organize and deliver constructible installation work packages to the Construction crew to enable safe, efficient, and predictable construction execution.


Responsibilities

The Work Package Engineer is principally responsible for:

  • Work with Field Engineering and Field Construction supervision to ensure Work Packages are downloaded, quality checked, and printed based on the project schedule.

  • Review work packages for completeness and latest drawing revisions

  • Work with project teams to update Book Builder, Aconex, and Teamworks as needed to reflect the updated scope

  • Redlining drawings to add any construction field changes

  • Maintain an electronic log of Work/ Test packages issued to field.

  • Coordinates with field construction disciplines to resolve work package closure issues.

  • Perform a final review of work packages for completeness.

  • Ensure that the following activities are performed and documented in the work packages as required

  • Verify the material used in the work package follows design drawings and site procedures.

  • All required signoffs required by the work package instructions are properly completed.

  • Maintain effective communication with other project team members, the client and field personnel to ensure quality and schedule

  • Works well in a team environment.

  • Maintain strong organizational skills, and attention to detail which is imperative.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-energy team environment.

  • Execute the printing and assembly of various work package print requests.

  • Support audits for quality assurance, internal technical reviews, client reviews

  • Willingness to get involved with overall project work package activities where required. Able to handle multiple tasks.

  • Ensure all required content for the scope of installation is in the work package as required.

  • Ability to extract, compile, and assemble data for the preparation of reports and metrics.

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications

The Work Package Engineer shall be knowledgeable and/or experienced in:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, AND 2 years of related experience in construction, engineering or engineering-related field.

  • Knowledge of construction activities relating to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration.

  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and technical database applications.

Additional Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of basic engineering principles in the design and installation of structures, systems, and components.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to provide clear and precise verbal and written communications with design engineers

  • Ability to read, understand and interpret construction drawings.

  • Ability to interface with diverse construction disciplines as well as all levels of management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must be proactive, have above average organizational skills, use individual initiative and follow assignments through to completion.

  • Software data entry experience

  • Experience with construction Work packaging.
