Job Purpose

Drive end-to-end project execution for the projects with North Star to ensure timely completion of the same, adhering to defined standards of cost and quality. Drive operational efficiency and cost savings through continuous process improvements and value engineering initiatives.

The role holder will be required to scan the business landscape for opportunities of business expansion in the core & allied segments and drive them to conclusion and successful award of projects. Additionally, he would also be responsible for developing the in-house short & long term project management capabilities on both, technical & people front.

The role incumbent should be adaptive to a start-up like environment and brings to fore, a strong challenger mindset with proven abilities to influence peers across the eco-system and deliver a higher quality quantity mix for efficient Project Operations.


Roles and Responsibilities

Project Planning & Budgeting

  • Develop project planning and management systems to manage multiple, parallel projects simultaneously.
  • Plan and mobilize financial and manpower resources for allocated projects depending on the nature and the duration of the project for effective and timely project execution.
  • Take responsibility for overall budget preparation for allocated projects.
  • Review the Project Manager and the team allocation for each project
  • Guide the preparation of detailed project plan including timelines and milestones.

Business & Vendor Management

  • Guide the enquiry and tendering process for new businesses.
  • Ensure adequate Procurement and coordinate with other departments for efficient progress on projects.
  • Participate in negotiation meetings during empanelment stage of the project vendor • Selection of the Subject Matter Expert, project for various ongoing & upcoming projects

Project Monitoring

  • Direct and provide necessary guidance to the Project Teams during the duration of the projects
  • Ensure adherence to Project plan detailing aspects such as budget, timelines and milestones
  • Ensure compliance to all statutory norms with respect to design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, etc.
  • Coordinate all policy matters with regards to the projects at hand with other departments
  • Liaise with internal and external technical experts to ensure compliance with statutory and other licensing legalities and the Local Government act.
  • Ensure systems and processes are in place to achieve compliance with all statutory requirements.
  • Assist the CEO with the overall executive direction through project team to ensure successful & in time completion of projects
  • Report to the CEO / Directors on the progress of various projects and seeks guidance when required.

People Development

  • Set goals, review and manage performance, guide, and counsel and provide feedback to the team on performance so as to ensure a motivated and committed team.
  • Provide subordinates with technical guidance, training and the required growth opportunities to ensure their development.

Financial

  • P & L accountability for each project & overall for North Star
  • Manage revenue and expenditure monitoring processes that ensure appropriate financial and accounting control processes are in place and operating optimally.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Good educational background, preferably in the fields of Mechanical / Electrical/ Civil / Instrumentation Engineering
  • Proven working experience as a project administrator in the Petroleum & Nature Gas Industry
  • Solid technical background, with understanding or hands-on experience in Project Execution
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • PMP / PRINCE II certification is a plus
  • Capable of effectively managing the Project Life cycle process from client consultation to closing including identifying requirements, resource deployment, developing, and providing tactical solutions.
  • Excellent project management and people management skills. Have successfully managed large teams and multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Graduation from IIT / REC preferred

Minimum Qualification: Engineering graduate with 15-20 years of experience.

Good to have : Experience in Handling various Engineering project management toolsets and technologies across City Gas Distribution.
