Job Summary:

Altair seeks Software Test Engineers to validate enterprise web application platform UIs, and APIs designed in the latest cutting-edge technologies. Our platform leverages the latest and greatest in web components, K8s containerization, CI/CD, and agile development practices. Our QA team works closely with developers, and development operations to keep new code moving through the software development lifecycle efficiently, and with a keen eye for quality. The Data Analytics QA team is constantly testing the latest and greatest in new technologies in the ML Ops, data analytics, and data science industry.

The successful applicant for this position will play an important QA role in automating and testing Altair products in a multiplatform environment. In addition, you will work with other QA Engineers across Altair as part of our Quality Center of Excellence including Security Testing, Performance Testing, Automation and more.

As a member of the Quality Center of Excellence team, you will work closely with product management, software development and applications engineering teams. You must be driven by a desire to be efficient, collaborative, thoughtful and productive in a fast-paced environment of prolific engineers.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

• Measure the quality of an application under a given user load
• Understand the application architecture and interpret how each component of a modern system of software works
• Create a plan on how to test concurrency, arrival rates and scheduling, etc.
• Design effective tests and model loads accurately
• Identify suggestions for performance tuning based on performance test results
• Automate scripts and tests
• Investigate bottlenecks and define clear steps to reproduce issues. Log issues in the bug tracking system. Synchronize and clarify bug description and severity with the respective software developers. Provide timely validation of fixed defects.
• Work with DevOps and IT teams to deploy and implement testing infrastructure
• Build subject matter expertise in various product domains and utilize this knowledge to propose and implement QA initiatives to improve test efficiency

What makes you a great fit:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• 3+ years of Software QA experience with at least 2 years as a Performance test engineer
• Solid experience using performance test tools such as JMeter, Locust, or Gatling
• Good coding skills in Java or Python
• Knowledge on load balancers and monitoring tools for system and application performance
• Basic cloud knowledge and containerization
• Solid experience testing complex multi-tiered applications
• Experience on different relational databases and big data
• Experience testing web and desktop applications
• Strong understanding of SQA methodologies and best practices
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced work environment
• Strong desire to continuously learn new skills and technologies
• Extensive troubleshooting and analytical skills to identify root causes of issues

Desirable skills

• Experience with Data Science, Data Visualization and Data Analytics
• Experience working with Kubernetes and with a variety of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and OCI
• Experience with any of the following tools: .Net, Perl, Ruby, Load Runner, Grinder Perl, JavaScript, Jira, TestRail, Xray, GIT, P4, Bitbucket, Jenkins
