Travel expected: This is an office-based role; however, you may be asked to travel occasionally to other Elsevier offices worldwide

Job Summary

The Quality Test Engineer III, position is a key role within our Source Domain-Data Platform team, part of the wider Elsevier Research Technology. This position owns & drives the quality engineering aspects of source management and to accomplish on-time and efficient delivery of high-quality software products and/or data.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• 4+ years of QA Test Engineering experience
• BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required


Technical Skills

  • Proven ability to develop and execute Manual, Automated and performance testing Scripts.
  • Have significant experience on developing web automating tests in Java or JavaScript.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute automated and performance testing.
  • Strong knowledge of the software development process and methodologies
  • Working knowledge in REST API Automation.
  • Working knowledge in any PL/SQ Database.
  • Working knowledge of testing techniques, test methodologies their application and practical usage.
  • Any knowledge on Protractor Automation is very desired but not mandatory.
  • Any knowledge or experience on event-based architecture and use of contract testing and Kafka automation is desirable.
  • Any level of knowledge on accessibility testing and associated tools.
  • Any knowledge or experience in security scanning tools is desirable.
  • CI/CD pipelines experience.
  • Comfortable working with cloud-based infrastructure using Amazon Web Services or similar.
  • Understand the importance of gathering useful metrics around performance and load testing.
  • Ability to work on your own and be the quality champion for your squad.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute functional and non-functional testing along with automation for assigned projects successfully and consistently enable delivery of high-quality software products on time, on budget, and to specification.
• Interact with Product Management, Project Management, Engineering, BA and Operations teams to plan testing for delivery of products and enhancements and to assure products meet product requirements and quality standards.

• Maintain flexibility to react quickly to changes in priorities or circumstances to meet the needs of the business.
• Work with QA/Testing staff, project managers, technical leads, and subject matter experts to plan and execute functional/non-functional automated tests.
• Report issues and results, researching and identifying root causes as appropriate, documenting accordingly.

• Participate in all agile ceremonies conducted by the squad.
• Ensure that testing addresses requirements as agreed with other stakeholders.
• Research available tools and participate in initiatives to implement those that will cost-effectively enhance testing capabilities and product quality.
• Identify opportunities to apply existing automation or other tools to meet testing needs.
• Conduct project reviews, ensuring review criteria are defined, and implement procedures for ensuring quality control of project deliverables.
• Maintain framework for record retention in order to support internal and external IT audits.
• Identify areas for improvement and, with leadership, peers, or others, implement initiatives improving overall capability and efficiency.
• Ensure results of root cause analyses are addressed.
