Medidata is looking for a Data Engineer with professional experience developing enterprise services using functional and functional-friendly languages (i.e. Typescript/JavaScript/Python) to support multiple semantic-based projects.

The Team is developing the enterprise semantic capabilities of Medidata to provide semantic-enablement to new and existing products and services. The semantic

Projects include services to support data ingestion from wearable sensor, data governance, master data management, data fabric, linked data, AI/ML, data science, inferencing/reasoning, ontologies, and semantic store/analytics/query.

The duties of the backend Services Software Engineer include:

• Design and develop new enterprise event-based services
• Develop service domain logic
• Design, document, and develop new APIs
• Extend, document, and enhance existing APIs
• Commit backend functional and unit testing
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure all software meets regulatory and Medidata requirements
• Participate in agile development meetings
• Document technical and process flows
• Share knowledge across the Medidata enterprise with different teams

Qualifications:

• An undergraduate or higher university degree (BA/BS+, 4-year+; preferably BS+ in Computer Science or other Science/Engineering/Math discipline)
• three to ten (3-10) years+ of professional backend service development experience. Graduate degree / work may be substituted for professional experience.
• Experience in at least one (1) of the following development technologies/languages:
  • Typescript / JavaScript / Node.js
  • Scala
  • JAVA
  • Python
  • other functional language(s)
• Experience with git revision control system (preferably Github)
• Experience writing unit tests

Preferred:

• GraphQL experience (Apollo a big plus)
• Functional service development (at least one (1))
  • Node.js/Express
  • Python/(Django/Flash)
• NOSQL database interest/experience
