About the Role

We are looking for a super-smart, experienced Product Manager to join our System & Marketing Communications team in Bangalore. You will be responsible for building the overarching strategy on how system & marketing communications must be done in Gojek across touchpoints (within the app as well as outside), in order to earn our customer’s trust & provide confidence for them to transact on Gojek. You will demonstrate a strategic bent and a bias for action - and most importantly put users first.

To succeed in this role, you must be a thought pioneer, a driver, and help shape the overall direction as well as key deliverables. You should also be ready to roll up your sleeves and execute. You would ensure that product judgments are based on strong sound rigor and in-depth investigation and value data over opinions. You need to be a great storyteller, able to build a strong product narrative that clearly articulates the motivation for the project, goals, and path to success. You should also know to look beyond the surface level when it comes to data/research and separate wheat from the chaff.

You will own 1-3 product streams with minimal support and will have a chance to eventually grow to build a small team of junior PMs within the owned product streams ensuring predictability, quality & throughput of their streams, and direct reports’ delivery. You need to have exceptional communication skills as this role needs you to collaborate with, manage expectations of, and align stakeholders across functions.


What You Will Do

    • Lead the product vision & data-informed strategies for system & marketing communications in Gojek
    • Work closely with Marketing, CRM, Engineering, Design, Research, and Data functions to build experiences that ensure only hyper-relevant communications reach our users.
    • Build alliances with other product groups to experiment with and launch new 0-1 experiences in talking to users.
    • Leverage user research, usability studies, market research, experiments, and data study and translate them into requirements that solve real problems for a large set of users. Also partner with design/research team to facilitates problem-solving/co-design sessions
    • Own OKRs and drives strategy & roadmap for their stream(s), ensuring alignment with OKRs and strategy for their streams
    • Participates in prioritization of cross-stream initiatives and steers those within their own stream(s)Actively builds trust and teamwork and resolves sensitive issues within their product stream(s).

What You Will Need

    • A Bachelor’s / Masters or an equivalent degree, preferably in engineering or management
    • At least 4 years of product management experience in delivering highly successful and innovative consumer Internet products with stellar design taste and product instincts
    • You have the ability to break down complex problems, identify use cases and solutions that can be reused across multiple areas
    • Demonstrated ability to apply frameworks to make and justify product/prioritization choices (eg Jobs to be done, story mapping, ICE)Demonstrates a nuanced understanding of data, design & research, software engineering, and business processes and partners effectively with those teams
    • Superior communication skills with the ability to weave strategy, insights, priorities, and plan forward into a structured and organized storyline at all levels of management.
    • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to steer use data and metrics to justify requirements, features.
    • High attention to detail, ability to insist on high standards, and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously with minimal supervision and experience working in Growth/Marketing/AdTech would be a plus.
About the Team

The System & Marketing Communications team (under the umbrella of the Consumer Platform group) is central to earning our customer’s trust through communications. The team owns close to half a dozen products and basically acts as a conduit for all we want to tell users and all users want to tell us! The team operates across a wide spectrum of problems — from solving thorny technical problems at an unimaginably large scale to going down to the details of how a feedback button bounces to create a delightful micro-interaction! We spend a lot of time thinking about “Is this message better sent as a push or as a chat that’s available when a user opens the app?”, “How do we build trust in users that Gojek understands them and their needs really well?”, “Does pineapple on pizza ever make sense?” among other things.
