Summary Description:

Performs assignments requiring a general understanding of the principles, theories, and practices of purchase order creation on external suppliers and expediting input raw materials. Assigned products are generally routine where supplier scheduling and/or technology changes will have a minimal impact on the schedule performance of the plant/supplier and customer.

Major Responsibilities:

The incumbent will apply the knowledge practices and precedents to supply and demand management/material planning decisions in support of customer requirements, while aiming for Just-In-Time inventories. The incumbent will learn the principles of forecasting, order management, JIT, Material Resource Planning, inbound logistics, safety stock inventory planning techniques, Min/Max inventory stock planning, and purchase order execution activities. The incumbent applies sound analytical techniques, product knowledge, and systems application knowledge to evaluate material requirements, and delivery scheduling for assigned products. The incumbent may conduct analysis of inventory levels, days-on-hand, excess and obsolete inventory, demand and supply exception management, purchase order creation, purchase order exception management, and supplier issues resolution. Balancing Just-In-Time inventory scheduled requirements is a critical requirement of the position. Incumbents must have excellent communications skills especially to deal with external suppliers including Global.

Incumbents will learn all purchase order execution processes including understanding purchasing system capabilities, including requisitions, blanket purchase orders, contracts, and quotes. The incumbent will be required to understand how to generate hard copy, e-mail, fax, EDI, and supplier portal purchase orders. Incumbents must be capable of working supply and demand purchasing exceptions with outside supplier management personnel. Incumbents must be proficient in understanding the purchasing approved supplier list, vendors setup rules, and supplier sourcing rules functionality and the associated affects on purchasing execution process.

Education Preferred

Level: Bachelor’s Degree

Areas: EXPERIENCE PREFERRED

Years of Experience: 4 to 5 years in SCM
