Position Summary

Bechtel is seeking a Mass Earth Works Control/ Civil FE for the Mining & Metals team, based in Peru. The position will be responsible for providing engineering guidance, field support services and oversight to subcontractor design and construction services for various facilities. Ensures the result of physical work meets specific design requirements. Performs various construction engineering assignments requiring a working knowledge of construction engineering practices.


Responsibilities

The Mass Earth Works Control/ Civil FE is principally responsible for:

  • Determines the technical requirements for the civil scope of work, and coordinates with

  • Engineering on constructability issues.

  • Monitors work activities and ensure the technical adequacy, quantity and quality of the work performed.

  • Develops Construction cost and schedule optimization considering the extensive cut and fill

  • quantities.

  • Directs preparation of quantity listings of field purchased material and equipment. Initiates requisitions for field purchases.

  • Performs material receipt inspections.

  • Supports the Civil Superintendent with the preparation of schedules, reports, forecasts, construction progress, quantity verification, and budget monitoring,

  • Provides direct and timely support to the General Foremen, Foremen, and Construction Professionals to assure that work progresses in accordance with the project schedule.

  • Prepares and coordinates technical change documents (field changes, non-conformities, etc.) with the responsible engineers.

  • Coordinates and resolves material/equipment issues with Procurement.

  • Monitors and reports the plan to ensure the timely delivery of construction materials and equipment.

  • Ensures proper warehousing and storage exist to facilitate appropriate environmental protection.

  • Prepares design of temporary construction facilities and ensures assigned "as-built" drawings and other job plans are kept current.

  • Reviews specifications, purchase orders, subcontracts, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals and technical data to assist and advise on‑site.

  • Administers assigned subcontracts.

  • Coordinates with the appropriate site management on activities affecting the contract administration operation.

  • Supervises subcontractor work efforts and administers subcontract changes and interfaces with client personnel.

  • Reviews and/or supervises, as assigned, the preparation of construction estimates, cost engineering studies, schedules, and budgets.

  • Reviews project controls documents on progress relating to cost and schedule.


Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications

The Mass Earth Works Control/ Civil FE shall be knowledgeable and/or experienced in:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, AND 6 years of related professional experience.

Additional Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of construction operations (including production and cost management, scheduling and forecast development)

  • Experience working with, supervising, and administering subcontracts.

  • Always demonstrated the ability to maintain a safe work ethic and work environment.

  • Knowledge of the phases of project scoping, planning, and execution relating to the construction of civil discipline works.

  • All applicants must have the right to work and remain in Peru.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Prior recent experience as a civil field engineering discipline on large construction projects with significant excavation, embankment construction, borrow/ waste area management operations.

  • Knowledge of Bechtel’s “Zero Accidents” safety program.

  • Experience in mines and minerals processing or process plants construction is preferred.

  • Experience in participating in site ES&H programs in projects.
