Nurse Educator will provide professional advice, consultation, and expertise to ensure educational materials and programs are based upon current research, best practices, in keeping with the Nunavut Tuberculosis Manual and the Canadian Tuberculosis Standards. The incumbent will collaborate with Regional Communicable Disease Coordinators to identify TB related orientation and training needs for new healthcare staff and work to provide appropriate solutions. The TB Nurse Educator will also provide in-service sessions in conjunction with the rollout of the new Nunavut TB Manual to orientate healthcare professionals to the new manual, answering any questions and facilitating a smooth transition into the program changes and revised documentation forms. Travel to other communities for the TB Certification program delivery may also be required.Roles and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the documentation and formulation of Nursing SOPs and policies as well as
training records with proper training calendar.
  • Assists in planning and implementing staff development programmes.
  • Responsible for planning and conducts various training programs for nurses e.g. Induction. In-
service education, Preceptor-ship programmes, unit based teaching programmes,
  • Maintains discipline among nursing personnel.
  • Keeps records and reports of the Nursing Education Services.
  • Maintenance of confidential report and records of the Nursing Staff.
  • Takes regular hospital rounds in the wards and does bedside clinical teaching to the staff
  • To conduct quality audits, analyze quality indicators and develop audit tools for the
measurement of the same in coordination with HOD Nursing.
  • To identify factors responsible for non-conformance.
  • To develop inter-departmental quality assurance teams
  • Analysis of incidences.
  • To prepare annual budget for training
  • To coordinate with other departments for various research and training activities.
  • To develop and maintain MIS of training and quality activities.
  • To plan, conduct and maintain minutes of various meetings.
  • To supervise, guide and audit the activities of various nursing wards, nursing supervisors and
in charges.
  • Carries out any other duties assigned to her by the HOD Nursing.
  • To Conduct internal NABH audit in the wards
  • To complete monthly ACE NABH, Nursing Excellence Quality indicators and submit to
quality department.
  • Analysis patient feedback on daily basis and taken corrective action.
  • Giving daily, weekly monthly reports to nursing HOD.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a recognized bachelors degree in Nursing, Bachelor of Science Nursing or a Bachelor of Science Arctic Nursing along with two (2) years nursing experience with Tuberculosis. Registration with Registered Nurses Association of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (RNANT/NU) or the ability to obtain registration prior to start date is also required. Experience in adult education and skills training would be considered an asset along with experience in TB education and development of training tools.
