Data Engineer

Job Summary:Works closely with the Corporate Analytics team and business stakeholders to build information-rich decision-making tools using innovative techniques and technologies to solve enterprise performance management related challenges and problems. The Data Engineer is responsible for the successful delivery of both the functional and technical deliverables in a Corporate Enterprise Data Platform environment. The position will require strong technical knowledge of building analytics datasets using SAP HANA and/or SAP BW, along with functional knowledge in one or more of the SAP ECC PS, SD, CO and MM modules. Gathers requirements related to a business problem and transform them into a solution design. Expertise and the technical skills to develop and test the solution using the skills described. Designs, develops and tests to create quality solutions on time and within budget. Collaborate with functional team members on system functionality and design.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Creates data models in HANA 2.0 environment.
• Works with SAP HANA Design Studio to model and optimize various scenarios using SAP BW and SAP HANA.
• Works extensively using SQL Script, Stored Procedures, Function Calls.
• Creates or changes the existing HANA data models to perform with real-time and tunes for optimized performance.
• Designs, develops and programs methods, processes, and systems to consolidate and analyze unstructured, diverse data sources to generate actionable insights and solutions that solve business problems and provide predictive insights.
• Strong functional knowledge of ECC in the areas of PS/SD/MM/PP/CO.
• Works with SAP Business Objects and Tableau as required to understand the end to end reporting needs. Creates basic reports and data visualizations from time to time to assist the front-end team.
• Provides end-user support to a large global user base and resolve immediate production issues. Manages the support incident queue and customer communication.
• Gathers business requirements, propose solutions and implement, including documentation and end-user training.
• Keeps up to date with technical as well as industry developments, analytics software/tools, trends, and recognized best practices
• Works extensively with enterprise applications including but not limited to SAP, Workday, Salesforce, JIRA, Service Now, Oracle P6, and Aras PLM.
• Prepares and delivers presentations that effectively describe complex quantitative methods in clear and concise communications.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Four-year college degree, or equivalent.

• 2 years of hands-on SAP HANA native modeling using graphical and Scripted Calculation Views is required.
• 2 years of hands-on SAP BW experience.
• SQL scripting and stored procedure skills.
• Hands on experience in writing Stored Procedures, Triggers, Complex Queries, Sub Queries, etc. using HANA SQL.
• Able to present design to Business teams, able to clearly communicate with users.
• Functional knowledge in one or more modules of PS/SD/MM/PP/CO SAP ECC is a requirement
• Self-starter with strong analytical thinking and troubleshooting skills and high attention to detail who can work independently with minimal supervision on tasks/projects and perform root cause analysis
• Must have good communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse groups including managers, and subject matter experts to communicate new ideas/issues
• Must be detail orientated, a team player, and be able to plan and work flexibly to a deadline and have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
