Manager, Advanced Modeling

Location : Hyderabad

This position is a permanent position with our client (US Based Semiconductor Product Company with revenue more than 30 Billion USD)

As the Hyderabad Site Lead for Advanced Modeling activities, you will manage and coordinate the work on predictive materials, process, and structure modeling projects that support Technology Development Initiative. You will contribute to large-scale development of modeling methods and software packages to resolve complex process/structure challenges in DRAM/NAND/EM technology development. You must have strong knowledge and proven background in software development and multi-scale linking of first-principles-based (ab initio) atomic-scale modeling to nano-, micro-, meso-, and continuum-scale simulations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work very closely with Boise team to develop, validate, deploy, test, and maintain advanced modeling solutions
  • Lead, manage, motivate, and mentor the modeling engineers, and be jointly accountable to the site-level deliverables
  • Maintain project documentation and clearly communicate technical information
  • Develop process integration models tied with machine-learning/deep-learning/AI techniques for next generation DRAM/NAND/EM memory chips, which includes modeling of the process flow, calibration, and training of the models to become predictive
  • Build integrated modeling platforms to model processes and stress in complex 3D structures
  • Estimate structural, thermo-mechanical, thermodynamic, chemical, transport, electronic, optical, and magnetic properties using ab initio methods with density functional theory (DFT) and beyond
  • Development of first-principles and statistical/ML/DL/AI models for unit processes (such as, Plasma etch, Wet etch, ALE, CVD/ALD/Diffusion, PVD, CMP, etc.), and its cross-interactions in a process flow
  • Develop solutions for unit process modeling at multiple length scales, calibrate against process data, and train the models to provide for predictive unit-process modeling capability
  • Develop solid mechanics models that capture thermally-induced and process-induced deformation and failures in complex 3D structures using finite element structural mechanics, thermo-mechanical, and fluid-structure simulations
  • Development of advanced numerical methods, meshing algorithms, structure conversions, large-scale visualization, multi-scale coupling schemes, and stand-alone applications
  • Process simulations using various methods: MC, MD, phase-field, cellular-automata, level-set, computational fluid dynamics (NS and LBM), reactive multiphase flows, micro-/nano-fluidics, immersed boundary, mesh-free, and various finite-differences, finite-elements, and finite volume simulations of mass, heat, and fluid transport
  • Contribute to development of predictive process and structure DOE models using statistical and machine learning techniques
  • Define, design, and implement analytic applications that extracts data and images as inputs from relational databases and various data sources to build predictive statistical models
  • Work with IT developers to implement comprehensive database solutions
  • Apply and implement ML/AI techniques for process modeling and analytics
  • Coordinate collection of data required for modeling working with IT and Big Data team
  • Nurture partnerships with universities in India to help recruit best talent.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in developing materials/process/structure modeling software
  • 3+ years of industry experience in the use of, process integration modeling tools, or, statistical/ML/AI techniques, or, multi-scale modeling, or structural mechanics modeling
  • Previous managerial and supervisory experience in a related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to operate independently in a highly interdisciplinary fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Established track record as an excellent project manager on cutting-edge development projects
  • Experience with application development is strongly desired
  • Knowledge of quantum chemistry, statistical mechanics, plasma physics, and solid mechanics
  • Knowledge of density functional theory, reactive force-fields, embedded-atom methods, MC, MD, and phase field techniques
  • Strong background in chemical thermodynamics and kinetics
  • Strong background in semiconductor processes and integration
  • Strong problem-solving skills using physical modeling and statistical/ML/AI techniques
  • Experience with VASP, LAMMPS, Jaguar, HPEM
  • Strong knowledge of numerical methods, Fortran/C/C++ programming, MPI processes and threading, PYTHON/Perl/Tcl/Tk scripting languages, MATLAB, and Linux operating systems on multicore multimode architectures and GPUs
  • Background in Python, Hadoop, Java, and SQL
  • Strong background in data science techniques, relational databases, machine learning algorithms, and image processing
  • Proficiency in applying statistical methods, machine learning, and AI techniques (Linear and NL regression, Bayesian Statistics, DOE, Naive Bayes, Clustering, Decision Trees, Random Forest, ANN, CNN, NLP etc.)

Education:

  • A M.S. or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related discipline.
